Next Game History Secrets Video Doc Update

Hi, everyone!

This is Liam here, just checking in with a quick update for you all on my upcoming new video.

As promised, the next Game History Secrets video documentary is almost completed. It's probably about 90-95% edited at the time of writing. I had originally hoped to drop it on Patreon this week, but I decided to take a bit more time with it for a couple of reasons. I made some late additions to the script as I received some interesting last minute information and found some more details that I thought would be worth including. This now means that the video is going to be appreciably longer than I initially estimated. I think I said it might be around 30-40 minutes, but I have comfortably blown past that. The final video will be at least 45-50 minutes altogether. I am always very bad at estimating these kinds of things, but it ultimately means more for you to watch, so that's good! I also just want to polish up the editing a bit more so it all flows well. Doing quality control on something this big takes a lot of time, so I want to give it a thorough go-over before releasing it to you.

The video goes into some fairly great detail on a cancelled first party Xbox One project that was intended to be Microsoft's next big new IP, believe it or not (no, not Scalebound). It goes in-depth on the history of the studio in charge of it and how it all came about, as well as the project's troubled development and why it all fell apart. It also scrutinises statements made by people like Phil Spencer about it after the fact, which don't seem to have been truthful.

My research process for this video was pretty gruelling. I am going to talk about that some more in a Patreon exclusive post-mortem video talking about the making of this video, and revealing more info I wasn't able to include in it at some point next month.

The video will be up early exclusively on Patreon at some point next week (barring any cataclysmic issues like my computer exploding for some reason). Hope you're looking forward to it!

In addition to all that, I've been looking into some other cancelled projects lately and I am considering researching the original version of Metroid Prime 4 more when the game finally comes out. Although I already know what happened, it would be good to get some more details and hear some more perspectives on it. I think when the game is released, those people will be more willing to talk to people like myself and maybe there is a video there. I really like the idea of doing that and have already spoken to some of them about it. Here's hoping something like that can happen at some point.

The Metroid Prime 4 story would be huge. Covering it soon, I think, would give you your very well deserved dues and be big for GHS. Love how youve still kept it a secret what this mystery X Box game is. Appreciate you prioritizing our experience of seeing it all layed out in the final doc rather than telling every aha detail as they come.
