Thanks for asking, I'm all good. This isn't really based off personal experience but rather a lot of reflection (and frustration) about the glorification of suffering as an inevitability and as a self-defeating coping mechanism in the immigrant community where I'm from. This especially applies to the mothers, who are systemically deprived of a sense of self and develop resentment but also overbearing affection towards their children. The subletting part is based off personal experience though, I have to say that it was NOT fun while it lasted and eventually the apartment was raided by cops while I wasn't there (nothing to do with me btw). Got out of there really fast after that.
