I knew it had to happen, it was foreshadowed for a long time and the best way to really push up the stakes. Things were going too well for Kayla for too long. The first and second princes dying wasn't a big enough crisis compared to many of her previous trials. Even knowing she'll find a way out (it would be a lame story if the end was "bad guys win"), I can't wait to see where things go from here. Personally, I think the Emperor is going to try and have her executed but die before it can be implemented, and then we're going to have an all-out succession battle between Yunqi and Xianchun. Which will be complicated because Yunqi is connected to the Shu who are at least partially responsible for the murders. On the other hand, Xianchun winning is a loss condition for the country. Man this story does drama well. I've said this before and I'll keep saying it...criminally underrated story, way better than most of the isekai power fantasies out there. I can't wait to see what happens next!
