Hello, Patrons.
As many of your know, in addition to being a journalist, an historian, etc., I am also a board game enthusiast. I believe my passion for the hobby began as a young boy when I learned to apologize by playing a board game called "Sorry About That". Since then, my passion has only grown.
Some time ago, I even designed my own board game: "Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald's?: The Board Game". It was one of the bestselling board games of its release year, but unfortunately my publisher pulled it from sale citing concerns that I did not have permission to use photographs of Art Bell on the cards. It has been a frustrating journey attempting to appeal this decision, but I hope one day soon a "workaround" will be discovered.
In the meantime, I have continued celebrating my board game passion while also indulging another passion of mine (Christianity) in a podcast called "The Old Rugged Meeple". Today, I am announcing a video-based spin-off of that podcast. Also titled "The Old Rugged Meeple", this is a YouTube.com channel where I will play some of my favorite board games and, in the process, explain how they glorify Christ.
In this first video, I play the game "Too Many Bones" and explain that it celebrates Christ by having as its hero very diminutive goblins who are quite Christ-like in their stature. (Jesus Ben-David, like everyone else of his era, was quite short indeed.)
Unfortunately, as you can see from watching the video, I suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of both the game and my own hubris. But not all games played are games one, and I trust this video will at least serve an educational purpose.
As I continue with the "The Old Rugged Meeple" video series, I would like to involve you, the Patrons, in a special way. While the channel is intended to expose my message to those who may not know my work as an investigative journalist and are more interested in the board game hobby, your guidance and participation is greatly needed.
Shortly after posting this post, I will post another post containing a poll for which game I should play next on the "The Old Rugged Meeple" channel. For scheduling and other reasons, I must choose games that I can play by myself, but thankfully the selection of such games in my personal archive is quite extensive.
If you have any other questions or comments about the channel, please feel free to ask.
It is an exciting time here at Pizzaply Media.
As always, thank you for your support.
