Orc Marauders Charge into Grimdark Future

Hello everyone,

After much turmoil, today we're finally releasing all of the remaining models for the new Orc Marauders, giving you a full set to start your armies. This has been a wild ride, and we wanted to thank everyone for the feedback they provided us on the models, which has helped us vastly improve them. The models you're getting today wouldn't have been the same without your input, and we're glad you helped us see the models from a different angle, and improve them overall.

Model Updates

Since the original inception of the models, we've re-worked almost every aspect of them, but the journey isn't over yet. As we kept updating our models, we realized that there were still aspects about their heads that we want to improve, so we're going to be working on that alongside new models. Essentially, we realized that no matter what we do, the mustaches just aren't feeling very orcy, and that the hairstyles look more orcy if the sides of the head are shaved. We're already implementing this new style on all upcoming models, but some of our previous models (like the basic warriors) will have to be updated down the road. Oh, and we're also making the female tusks bigger, because bigger tusks = more orcy.

(A few work in progress examples of some of the new orc heads.)

Army Rules Updates

Beyond the models, today we're also updating the Orc Marauders army list to reflect two major changes: the removal of Goblins, and changes to units.

Goblin Reclaimers

First off, before you panic, let's talk about Goblins. In the OPR universe, Orcs and Goblins are two different species, that don't come together in one package. To reflect that, we're removing all Goblin units from the Orc Marauders, and are creating a brand new army called the Goblin Reclaimers. If you want to mix your Orcs and Goblins don't worry, you can always ally the two factions together and enjoy them that way.

The Goblin Reclaimers are a new fun and crazy faction for OPR, that allows us to explore the Goblins in their own right, because we always felt like they're too neglected in sci-fi games. This new army is smaller than the Orc Marauders, but no less fierce! The Goblins have some fun new lore, and are getting a bunch of new units as well, so make sure to check out their roster. In terms of models, we're going to be releasing the Goblin Reclaimers faction after the Orc Marauders, so you can get all of your greenskin goodness back-to-back.

Orc Marauders Rules Changes

Second, let's talk about rules changes. The biggest change is the removal of the Goblins of course, but what else? Honestly, not too much has changed, mostly some units have been re-named, some others have been split into multiple units or shuffled around, and there are some new units. Here's an overview of the most important changes:

That's about it for most important changes. There were other things that changed, and maybe some that we missed, but honestly it's best for you to just check out the army and get it playing on the table. Overall though, these are the same Orc Marauders you know and love, so nothing much is different in how they play.

We hope you enjoy our new models and rules, and are as excited as we are to see the Goblin Reclaimers join the battlefield later this year!

See Them Printed

If you want to get a first look at some of the printed models, our friend and OPR Ranger Warboss Fitz has printed out several of the models already where he tries out different paint schemes and asks the question: Do Orcs Have to be Green?

Also our friends from the Bonehead Podcast have started a new feature on their channel called One Page Wednesdays! This week's episode showcases the new range as well.

Available Now on Patreon

If you'd like to get the first wave of the Orc Marauders, there is still some time to grab them on Patreon. In April the Orc Marauders start their engines and roll into battle with their Bikers and Truck, with a payload full of Orc Warriors, when the back hatch flings open, the fun begins and the battle cries of the orcs add to cacophony of roaring engines and booming bullets.

In addition to the orcs, you'll get our fantasy release of Wood Elves, our Legendary Models, our Quest and Star Quest campaigns and models, our Welcome Pack, Advanced Rulebooks, and more!

Happy Wargaming!

Comments

Before the split Goblins would have been part of the Orc release so does the split have any effect on the release roadmap? I'd like toknow how soon I can get some cheeky looters onto the printer!

Paul Nibbs

I'm dissapointed in the direction of the orcs. While the larger tusks are great, I'm not a fan of the mustaches going away. I was a big fan of the tactical look they had going on initially but each itteration feels like it's moving further and further away from that. Now they're in the weird middle ground between the initial orderly mercenary style and the broadly seen junkyard scavanger style of sci fi orcs. I feel I can get the later basically anywhere while the more tactical orcs are hard to find. I hope one day you'll revisit the initial concept and give it another try

FlatTheRat

MMF is just the first few kits right now - we will be releasing more kits for the OM ever month for the next few months until the full army is available.

onepagerules

I'm super excited for orks...but is there a way to get less human looking ones?

Nick Adegite

Is what's currently available in MMF the full Orc Marauders range? It seems like a lot of unit types are missing.

Captain Grossbeard

Chiefs kiss good work. All I'd say is possible in the future maybe add a none tactical rock versions.

Techpriest Alex

They're on their way still, and will be added to your library as soon as they are finished. Should be soon, too, the models were finished but they need to get their printing supports, which need to be test printed, and renders finished before we can send them out.

onepagerules

We pay to keep their lights on. I honestly don't get why "they listen to us" is such a big deal. Rather than being "responsive" I'd rather they take the time to do actual market research and release a good product the first time rather than "responding".

Agree, given the concept was based on the one who will not be named’s lore, you’ve created a new look and feel but left the crap so it’s not offset. Dreads now only have 2 arms so models are useless and no upgrade to add them. I just hope someone skilled remakes the old system in fan armies or I’ll be setting my orcs aside and doing a different army list. Pity.

Samantha Riley

I really appreciate how responsive OPR has been. Not everyone might agree with everything, but they definitely listen. Thanks

Peter Larsen

Did you guys forget the bases and game aids?

MightyMarcos

I love this update. The OPR take on Orcs is what OIVE BIN WAITIN' FOR. DA ORCS IS DA BEST. They are my favourite 40k faction. I LOVE the idea of separating out the goblins, and will happily make a goblin army!

OjnoTheRed

Honestly, I'm all for the split from Orcs. I primarily run an all-gobz army anyway and it's been a massive swing and a miss with the orc models, so much so that I've downgraded my sub until I see the next sci-fi army. I was even thinking I could get behind the new Goblin lore, it's at least a unique take and seems to keep them wacky. But you've taken away Good Shot!! Yes, I see that they've had a Q increase to a whopping 5+(!!!!) and that they can now pay an extra 20pts for the Cyber Eyes upgrade, but this makes them worse than before as they now cost more to do the same thing, and Commando's can't take the upgrade at all. You left the Orcs with Bad Shot even though with the "unique" direction you've taken with them it makes no sense for them to be terrible at shooting anymore, but you've chosen to take away the main advantage of Goblins hitting slightly above their weight but still panicking at the drop of a hat. It feels like change for the sake of change, rather than any actual good reason. When you get around to actually working on the army list it would be great to see jetpackgobz and bikergobz, otherwise the list seems pretty solid. Just please give some thought to their special rules and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

Bozz Connelly

That's why i Love one Page rules the Most. Really unice. And the Goblins will rage 🤘

TheBridge

you guys nailed the estetic of the opr orcs, ty for liseten the comunity

Antonio Ovalle

You should probably back them up if you wish to keep them, yes.

onepagerules

Looking forward to an all-Goblin army :)

Ed

Love the Orc designs, and really looking forward to a goblin scavenging party to add to our GFF campaign

Roedolf Smit

Please keep the sunglasses.

Lukas Eisenring

I love the new vibes but I was wondering if there might be a way to keep the old Orc army layout (for more traditional army style) AND have the new one? Because I like both for different reasons.

Matthew Jones

I think that is the best move you could have made. I also think goblins are underutilized in sci-fi. I'm so excited that you're also doing goblins right after orcs, that's so awesome I can't wait to see what other goblin units get added. I'm hoping for wonky robots, cars and other creations from these looters.

Xalia

so will the old orc heads be removed? should I download everything now before they are updated? frankly i like the mustaches

Alex Santelli

Indeed, male and female goblins.

onepagerules

We love Warboss Fitz's videos.

onepagerules

Ah great now I have to wait for a WHOLE FACTION OF SPACE GOBLINS. What a hard life. I can’t wait to see what they look like! Also these orcs are awesome!

Bflay95

The Warboss got an official shout out! Love that channel!

Russell Byerley

I love everything about this

Classanova

The new orc designs are great and have way more flavour than the original designs. I still think most of the female orcs don't work, the sculptors just seem to stick the heads on the same bodies as the males and they look too small. You showed off different base meshes for the male and female but I guess it's quicker to do it this way, would be nice if the bodies were at least shrunk a bit before the female heads are put on them.

Cait Sidhe

Really pumped for the Goblin Reclaimers! So happy they’re a full faction of their own

M

I’m building this army and will probably build the Goblins as well. Big Tusks for the Orcs and Big Ears and Noses for the Goblins. So excited!!! I want Goblins to be Punk Rockers!!! Spiked hair and all!!! Thank you so so so very much!

IV_Ever

Same i love love the split such amazing ide and i cant wait for gobo scfie army and now. Have the orcs over the next few month to hold me over you all ways do right by the commuity

Derek Hoferichter

Actually a huge fan of the split, being able to run a full gobbos army is awesome, and the addition of goblin gunners with more weapon options, and orc berserkers is awesome.

Notimeforwargames

Cool. We're getting female Goblins too, right?

Thannak

Thanks for taking our "orc"put into consideration. 👊🏻
