Welcome new patrons, some updates, and a thank you gift!
Added 2020-04-23 20:13:44 +0000 UTCHello and thank you so much for investing in this creative project! As some of my off-line projects begin to wrap up for the summer, I'm gearing up to dedicate even more time and resources to creating more content.
Looking forward to the growth of this flesh pit, I've been doing some thinking about how the posts so far have been hosted and archived, and I wanted to reach out to you, my most dedicated fans, and ask if you all had any suggestions or ideas maybe I haven't considered yet.
ARCHIVE HOSTING
Right now, most of the content is spread out among various reddit and tumblr blog posts.
I had thought that having a centralized tumblr would better organize the information, but I've begun to rethink this strategy. Even with tags, I do not believe it is very easy to read and/or navigate for someone wanting to lurk and read up on lore/posts. So, I've begun to think of ideas for a proper archive website or wiki; something not too dissimilar to some existing national park archives. I would not use a platform such as Fandom, but would look into using your financial contributions to this patreon (along with funds from merchandise sales) to fund and maintain a simple but dedicated archive.
What do you think of this direction? Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for possible platforms!
ART BOOK
I will officially state for the record that I have begun the initial planning phase for producing, for lack of a better term, an "Art Book" for the Mystery Flesh Pit. My aim with this book would be primarily for it to act as a work of horror fiction, told through the style of a coffee table photo/art book. The book would contain a ratio of approx. 2/5 text to 3/5 visual content, divided and spread over chapters that slowly reveal the narrative. While I do have experience in designing and planning out a work like this, I have no prior experience in publishing or producing a book, so I will need to continue to research the best method I believe to bring this book to readers. Again, any thoughts, suggestions, ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!
THANK YOU GIFT
Since starting this Patreon page in January I have been overwhelmed by the generosity from this amazing and good-humored community. The financial support that you have given has allowed me to make producing this content a priority, and I could not be happier. As the number of supplicants to the ππΏ πΎ continues to grow, I want you all to know that I sincerely appreciate those of you who have been with this project from the earliest stages, and no matter how (hopefully) large the momentum behind this project becomes, I will not forget your support, especially considering all of you are pledging support during a global pandemic.
So, to that end, I would like to send each of you who have pledged before May 1st a small thankyou gift c/o the Mystery Flesh Pit Archival Society. The logistics of doing this are tricky, but I think that the most straightforward way would be if each of you send me, via private message, a good mailing address I could ship the gift to, if you feel comfortable doing so.
Something like:
------------------
Name:
Shipping Address:
Zip Code:
------------------
In light of the COVID-19 contamination risk, I can promise that the material contents of the gift will be paper, cardstock and plastic, and that they will be packed with the same cleanliness rigor expected of any competent professional enterprise. It will take approx. 2 weeks or so to finish producing the gifts, and once I have your address, however long shipping takes.
Thank you again for your continued and valued support, and please let me know your thoughts on these updates!
