Whenever I'm quiet a little while, there's always a good reason ;) ...and I'm relieved that most supporters trust that at this stage! Thank you!
I had said in my last post at the beginning of June that I "hope to have some interesting news about whatever it is I find in my [admin] mountain", and I do! How did I ever forget about all the thought I'd already put into a feature-length documentary? All that stuff I wanted to share about learning, language, the brain, identity, and the socio-political experience of creating, or being, Language Transfer.
I recently got an email from YouTube alerting me to nearly 350,000 minutes of user time in just one month, and I was excited enough to share and celebrate it! If we include other platforms like the app, SoundCloud etc. that's over a million minutes a month! Unfathomable for me! But with a little fathoming (math), all of that does lose some lustre... that's only an average of 25 people doing LT at any one time across the globe. It's more than I ever hoped for, but I was never in this for numbers anyway - and irresponsibly so!! All this work is only as much as the experience of all those who learn from it. And so I can only think, what if it were 100 people at any one time, or 1000? Everything I've done would be 4 or 40 times more than it is. Sharing or 'marketing' this stuff is as important as creating it.
The documentary will be the binding body of everything that Language Transfer represents, a presence that is currently scattered around the internet and throughout the courses, and is not readily discernible. Correcting that should not only draw in new learners but new writers for the platform, too. Language Transfer will have a clearer story, a more readily understood impact, role and identity as a project, a more tangible linguistic and pedagogic stance. It dawns on me that the whole idea of the platform is, essentially, to turn LT into a movement rather than a personal project, and so the documentary might be just the thing to break the fourth wall and press those buttons I've been consistently missing in my attempts to get more people course writing over the years.
Apart from all of this, I'm excited to tell the at times wild and in parts unexpected story of how all of this came to be.
All of this will, hopefully, be artfully woven together for 2024's "Language Transfer: The Documentary".
Thank you all dearly for your support, for being part of what is hopefully still just the beginnings of Language Transfer, or rather the end of the beginning!

PS stuff:
About the AI remastered tracks mentioned in the last post, there has been a long delay in getting the promised tracks to me so I hope to be able to update again about that soon. If the original volunteer doesn't follow through then I'll make a call-out, either way a remastered version of the audios will eventually be made available alongside the originals.
Perks - if you would like to claim a sharer pack or Interlinear translated ebook (check your pledge tier for eligibility) then please remember to shoot me a message to claim! The sharer packs go a long way in helping you actively get the word out about LT, and the ebooks offered to LT supporters by InterLinear are great reading practice :)
