Uboa - Empathy Shield

As some of you are aware, I re-remastered (lol)  The Origin (Deaf) and renamed it Empathy Shield

I renamed it mostly because the elements of The Origin title track only appear in the final track/section, the rest is new minus sampling. If you are wondering what an empathy shield is, click here.

I feel weird asking people to pay (for those who subscribe, twice) for a 17-minute live set with heavy sample use so all the funds went towards Teeth Dreams (my gf violet) FFS fund (and a new laptop, as her old one died and she had to finish her LP on my laptop when I wasn't home).

The 'Empathy Shield' variant is a much better (imo) master than the 'The Origin (Deaf)' version - it is clearer, less distorted, less awful resonances and has a better dynamic range. It was a good lesson in mastering - less is more. 'The Origin (Deaf)' had a lot of saturation *added* to make it more 'tape like' and to compress things a bit, but it made it sound worse. You can still listen to the OG master (and without track seperations) in the original The Origin (Deaf) post.

Since you have already paid for it by subscribing to it, you can have the re-remaster for free below, both WAV and mp3 (although mp3 isn't gapless, so there will be jumps!) If you want to donate to Violets'/Teeth Dreams FFS fund directly, you can buy her new record in the link above.

Finally, for those who use splice, the feminine choir samples was from "dawdio - otherworldly vocal samples". If you wanted to use similar samples for your own work (and also hear them in isolation compared to how I used them in the final track) go check it out.

You can also download the samples from Silent Hill - which are a constant reference for my music - here is a big pack I found collecting them all together, including the ones used in ES. They are not the samples as they appeared in-game, but the full samples from the original sample CDs.

Finally, the other drone sample for The Origin of My Depresion is none other than the 'mars' song from Yume Nikki, pitchshifted +2 steps. Believe it or not, I am somewhat (and I am understating things a little here) of a Yume Nikki fan. It's almost as if I got my namesake from a character in the game.
