Not perfect but Im OK with my 9 year old walking to school in Yokohama. Better than the Australian alternative, most kids are now chauffeured up until Year 4......causing big traffic delays, environmentally unfriendly and kids living in bubbles IMO. I walked to school (4kms) from 6 years old. Didn't kill me, but I guess, things change.
