New Tea With Alice: Jackie Kashian plus some upcoming things!

Hallo lovely people! I have things coming up! Exciting things! I need to get better at announcing things, or I need a secretary to help me get around to getting a secretary) but for now, here’s a list:

I’m on the BBC Radio News Quiz panel this week, rather than just writing for it. It was a very early start slash late night, with a 2am call time and a 3am performance time. I decided to stay awake until the show and I definitely suffered around the 4am mark. But I never know whether to try to get only a little bit of sleep - that can be quite pressurised.

I have gigs coming up in Sydney, including some charity shows and the 100th episode of A Rational Fear. I’ll also need to line up some preview shows because:

For Melbourne people, I’ll be doing a short run at MICF this year. Tickets will be on sale soon, but it should be 2-18 April, 6.15 at ... um... the Mercure? On Russel st? Some hotel venue. Details TBC, alright?

Obviously, everything contingent on people in all of the states staying covid safe, and anyone being willing to go project aerosols in a group in lockdown-traumatised Melbourne ever again. I’ve pushed for some concessions from the festival, as they don’t usually let you film, but they’ve agreed to let me livestream here, for people who can’t or can’t bear to be there in person. Again details TBC.

ANYWAY

I definitely don’t want to short change Jackie Kashian, because this podcast was a real pleasure. I admire her very much. She’s one of the sanest people going around. A real hard working American road dog, we talked about zoom writing, the flaws of the rationalist approach, online dating, pick up artistry, handsome men doing cartwheels, romance novels, women’s literature and it was all fabulous.
