Isn’t it frustrating when you know there is important content that you miss because you are not part of the media’s culture? I have experienced this with both Asian and Russian games/books. Night Shift/Day Shift and the rest of those books as well as the Metro series and others are loaded with cultural significance that I can just tell is there but cannot grasp it...
