Clearly 2026 is doing it's darndest to out fuck 2025 , but I hope you're doing well and remaining alive. I wanted to send out a little progress update/explaining of the no video this month. BASICALLY, it's looking like the SIREN video is going to be on the longer side, maybe even the longest game review I've done! The script is in excess of 50 pages. Turns out I had a lot to say about this one on top of it being a nightmare to organize in a coherent way. Plus the prospect of including several bits in POV "sightjacking" vision was simply too hard to resist. I mean, that's like the thing I'm always doing! It's a match made in THE UNDERWORLD. I'm excited to see it take better shape. I bought several VERY stupid props and bits of costume for the live bits. Some of them I'm not even sure how they will come into play, but just having them makes me laugh. All that to say, it needed extra time in hopes that it would be extra good.
I've been trying to be better about planning and sticking to the plan, so I've done a very adult thing and bought a whiteboard to keep track of progress on various projects. As of now I've been working primarily on SIREN and the plan is to then shift focus to a patron-only video that will...hmm...shall we say...return to a well I've visited before but with a spin to avoid getting content ID'd. I think the last handful of patron vids (the Lynch one especially) has emboldened me to try something once again. I think there may be some stupid-as-hell jumble of fast moving clips that you reach to completely bamboozle YouTube. I'm gonna give it one last hail mary on this particular topic hehe.
After that I will pick a game to cover from my personal to-do list and halfway through production run a new big ol' poll. Aside from that I've made a startling amount of progress on music. I've condensed all my half-finished tracks into a pile of about 15 that I'm gonna cut down to my 12 favorite and I've already got 4 completely finished in the last couple weeks. It's been a lot of fun finishing these finally and I think it has resulted in maybe the most personal yet genuinely dumb material I've made in a while. I even did a track in Spanish and showed it to my fluent-speaking mother who said it was great but on certain words I sound like a gringo :(
Oh and on the topic of merch, I've been waiting to recoup a bit before restocking, but I will along with a new design I've been work-shopping sometime in Feb hopefully. I'd say the store has so far been a success in so much as people bought them and I've only had 2 fuck-ups with international orders!
Anyways, I always get anxious as hell when it's reaching the end of the month and I have nothing to show you, but just wanted to pop in and say....THE PIPE IS STUFFED. Things are gonna start FLLLLLLLYYYIIIN' out soon. As always I'm endlessly grateful for your support. Without You I'm Nothing (great album btw)
Remain goth (or alt-adjacent at least) Remain gaming (or watching associated content at least)
Feel like it's been a minute since I updated everyone on whats in the works! Firstly, I hope you enjoy this video, it's one I've wanted to do since my channel's inception. Like many of those first ideas, it's a game I found in a thrift store or flea market and had nobody to talk to about it. It was totally meant to be a 40min max affair, but...well...I don't know...content just kept happening. I fell into this spiral of "well this part isn't funny so I should add 5 more minutes of bits."
Within the month I'll also have the AMA video up which will be around the same length. It's nearly done in editing, I just ran out of B-roll to use for it so that should be along shortly. Thanks so much for submitting questions! Always a little worried about loss of interest on that front hehe. Oh and if you were impatient for that sort of content, I did an interview with Dread Central a few months back that finally came out at https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/548442/youtuber-grim-beard-leads-the-goth-gamer-nation-new-blood-drops/
Also in GGN news, I launched gothgamernation.com , the new merch store. For a long time I've wanted to have a shop that I personally controlled and have it stocked with locally-printed quality shirts (From years of going to shows I have become a merch snob) and I'm proud of the results! I've done two small batches which mostly all sold out (a third will be on the way near the end of the month I believe) and so far it's been a success. It's really cool knowing that the merch is out there in the mix.
Up next is the poll winner Siren and some new patron-only content and I'm super excited for that. As always, endlessly grateful for your support and allowing me to pursue silly projects like this and hope I can provide some entertainment in this sick sad world. Alrighty, I'll have something for you soon, bye for now!
I have not raised my nose from the grindstone in weeks so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. I hope you like this video for a game that really put me through the wringer! (I think I permanently fucked up my wrist) and that it's a sufficient mix of me being pissed off, but having affection for Taro's output. I'm gonna take a couple days to rest and then continue work on a game review that will be a secret for a little while and then in the coming days I'll be holding another poll with a substantial twist that should be fun. Thank you so much for your support and well...just for being you...
I have a new offering of goofy paranormal media for patrons only. This one takes a look at the first half of the horror anthology series, A Haunting. A very silly show that was a great comfort during the COVID pandemic. I sift through the first six seasons looking for amusing moments and links to other media in that weird world I recognize. Parts of it make giggle, and parts I'm actively thinking, "why did I make this?" Like most of these videos it's a little bit of an experiment in format for me, there is a lot of improv and MST3K-adjacent quipping so I don't really know if it works and if anyone would be interested in a second half or if ya'll would rather I move on to something else so let me know (like another film director thing or something different entirely, I have several concepts floating around, SO MANY IDEAS). I've also been considering making the patron videos their own poll or incorporated into the polling like I do for the game videos. Let me know if that may interest you as well!
This was a video that I had sitting on the back-burner for a while and I realized I was wasting too much time on it so the only way to purge it was to waste EVEN MORE time on it. As always I thank you for allowing me to waste that time on this and apologize for doing so. This was actually a pretty good reset as I'm very excited to go full steam ahead into a game review. So, I will take a day of rest here and get right back into the mines!
Thank you again for your support and hope you have a giggle at this one - Grim
I'll try to keep this brief so I can get back to editing!
Just wanted to apologize for lagging and explain/reassure/promise you that I'll be posting something soon, within the coming week or so. WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS, I was working on Drakengard Video and another secret menu item, but a DIFFERENT secret menu item that I had been working on here and there seemed like it might be a smarter bet to focus on since more of it was finished. That's what I'm editing now. The problem is that it turned out to be much longer than I anticipated at around exactly 3hrs.
This video will be familiar subject matter of paranormal content, specifically of the anthology variety, but the format is a little different and experimental. You'll see what I mean, I'm sure. Maybe. There are some funny bits in it, but it was pure hubris that I tried to complete this within the month. I'm too deep in it now to back out! Anyways, I'll try to get this up for patrons within the next week and then it's back to regular scheduled programming. I'll also try to just lock-in on one project in the future hah. It will be good...won't it? Yes!
Also, I've finally gotten help to set up a proper merch shop. I've decided I'm only letting Comfort Colors touch this body or bear my channel name. The plan is to have just a couple designs for shirts, maybe some tapes that will be shipped through me as a test and if I don't bungle it I'll try a bigger drop of sorts. Will update you all first once that is up and running ๐
Okay, thank you so much for your support, I'm going back in!
Okay, this thing really fought me at the 11th hour, but it's finally done. Apologies for the delay. I hope you enjoy it! I have to say the process of this one felt real weird and experimental, I feel like there is a lot of deranged brain broken improv in it. Maybe in part because it's a new game but also because it's such a weird game and if given infinite time I could fill it with endless goofs and bits of trivia. There was a few failed uploads that got flagged for one thing or another and I would take the opportunity to just modularly add like 5 more minutes to it. There was a whole aside where I talk about the movie Xchange with Kyle MacLachlan and I don't even remember why, but I have a blurry memory of having to rip it from a tape because I brought it up. And then while I was at it, I thought it would be neat to record elements of the video to VHS and then rip it back to digital so it looks scuffed. You'll see! Anyways, what a ride! I'm ready to not think about Slitterhead for a little while, until the sequel (fingers crossed).
I'll keep this short and sweet because I'm in the middle of trying to put together a Next Fest video before the month is out as well and I've already found a good collection of games to feature. Then I'm going full steam ahead on another big boy video. Thank you so much for your support I'MWORKINGASFASTASICANTOMAKEYOUHAPPY!! Alright, I'll update you here when i've made substantial progress on something. Appreciate you more than you know :) Happy fathers day Happy pride Happy...
Just wanted to share a progress update. I usually feel a little bad when I don't have anything ready to post at the end of the month, but I just wanted to assure you that I'm real close!Initially I had figured the Slitterhead video would be on the shorter side, but I found a lot of fun material to include so it's looking to come out close to 2.5hrs. It's actually really strange writing for something so new that I don't have prior life experience with or decades of ephemera to dig through so I tried to shape the video's flow around the game's creator and how his career may have informed why such a weird little game exists. Hopefully it works out! Right now I'd say it's about 85-ish% done, everything is laid out with the proper clips, but I want to refine some points and finish up some live action wrap-around (aka talk to dog scenes). Barring any complications, I'm hoping to have it up next week!
Also, if you're not a part of the discord and therefore did not see the poll that took place, the winning game for the next review video was 2003's Drakengard. Fittingly the only game choice I included that I have never played and judging by some of the reactions when I tell people what I'll be working on, it looks like I'm in for a rough time. Should make for a fun challenge as far as content though! I've been playing it whenever my brain gets fried from editing and i'm maybe 4 or 5hrs in. I found that it looked pretty rough on my capture. Dark footage does not fare well with YouTube compression so with some advice from another mentally unwell Youtube gamer (TheGamingBritShow) I sprang for an upscaler and it's a pretty decent improvement. Having said that, I think playing this game is going to give me arthritis or something. I have to take regular breaks because it feels like my wrist is going to explode from pressing square, real elder gamer shit. If any one has some advice on important info about the game, feel free to let me know in the comments.
As usual, I got my other projects on the backburner and I'm already pretty certain of what I'm reviewing after Drakengard, a point-and-click game that I was convinced I made up in the fog of my adolescence, but I will refrain from putting that down in case I get detracted by something else hehe. All that to say, sorry about taking a little longer on this one and as always thank you so much for the support, which allows me to aspire to bigger and dumber things :)
After putting up an admirable fight against my PC, the Riddick video has surfaced. Thanks so much for waiting a little longer for this one. I wanted it to be extra big and extra dumb to differentiate it from the recent wealth of Riddick content. So, hopefully that paid off! I'll keep this short and sweet so I can get back to work on the other two projects on the back-burner and maybe take a nap. I'll be running a poll on the discord soon for the game I cover after Slitterhead so be sure to look out for the notification if you want to participate! Again thank you so much for your support and for allowing me to spend so much time trying to get this thing working without having a panic attack. I hope you enjoy the vid!
Just wanted to thank you dearly for supporting me and my channel and keep you in the loop on whats headed to your content plate. Right now I have three things in different states of completion, with the most complete being:
1. Escape from Butcher Bay/Assault on Dark Athena/Universe Retrospective: Apologies for lagging on gaming content, but I really wanted to go nuts with this Riddick video and make it worth the wait, it also touches on all things dick (Richard b. Riddick). Its in editing right now and I'm thinking it will wind up at about 3hrs, maybe more if I wind up milking a lot of dumb bits I have littered throughout. I think I've explored some cool stuff that hasn't got much attention and will make the perhaps tired subject matter still an entertaining ride.
2. Slitterhead: Before I hold another vote I'd like to make a bit more progress on my planned video for the 2024 action/horror game Slitterhead, which is still in the writing phase. Feels odd to be compelled to tackle something so recent for my channel, but I think it will be a great fit. I knew about an hour into my first playthrough that my content brain was kicking in and I could do something with this. It's got that mix of ambitious and overly cerebral yet dumb and under-cooked that I find so endearing. You've got some time to check it out before I cover it if you were wanting to. I don't know that I would confidently like...say you should buy it, but hey, if you wanna toss some coins to Toyama and Yamaoka they deserve it for their lifetime service to gaming.
3. Millenial Kino: The third video I'm working on is one that I've been picking up and putting down for a while now, but will be a Patron exclusive centered around celebrating schlocky, overly-slick cinema from about 1999-2009. Tackling my appreciation for the era of leather coats, slow-motion gunfights and nu-metal soundtracks. This is still in bits and pieces because Ideally I'd like to work out a format that I can make several installments of this and not just one big fuck of a video, but I'm getting there!
Anyways, I'll get back to work now, but again thank you so much for your support. I know I might do that obnoxious creator thing and over-apologize for taking forever on shit and sounding like I'm slave-driving myself into burnout, but, and I mean this sincerely, this is EXACTLY what I wanna be doing and that beats out any stressors, really. And it means a lot that you allow me to do exactly what I wanna be doing <3
I don't think I've made it a secret how much of a David Lynch fan I am and even though I had mentally prepared for his passing, it still left me with the desire to pull his work towards me, around me like a security blanket, so the result is this little video looking back at his film career. It's semi-scripted, semi-improvisational. Full of me just rambling about fan theories and favorite scenes and using the word "esoteric" a lot. For sure the guy made a lot of stuff beyond the 10 theatrical releases, but I figured I should give myself some measure of structure in revisiting his work and reflecting on how influential it all was. After watching it back I realized that though there are jokes in it and funny edits, it's pretty much all David doing the work. He was so funny even when he wasn't aware of it. I think the vibe comes off as a little more sentimental than my usual fare, but hopefully it will be entertaining.
I think I'll try to get out another Next Fest video if I can gather enough material before returning to work on Riddick in full, which I was already like 20 pages into. I really want to go nuts with that one and make it my own considering that shortly after it won the poll, a few other creators put out content about the series. I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT! I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT ANYTHING! So, I can't speak for the quality of any of it but I feel like I can for sure come out victorious as far as runtime! Sorry if the gaming content was all you were after, but I feel like I'd be in dereliction of duty within the GGN if I didn't make something Lynch related and I tried to stuff in as many asides about gaming within it that I could. If you've never seen any of his films or Twin Peaks and have any strong interest in doing so, I would recommend doing that before a dork ruins it for you.
As always, hugely appreciative for your support and allowing me to fish for this idea. Hope you're staying goth and gaming <3 - G(rim)
Howdy GGN, Just wanted to update you on the progress of whats to come. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay video is coming along nicely and I've found a wealth of insight and tidbits to include. Unlike many of the games I've covered recently there is actually A LOT of documentation and interviews/commentary from the developers. It will of course include coverage of the 1.5 version, Assault on Dark Athena and I also touch on the films/greater mythology of the character. If there is one thing I've always found admirable about Riddick it's that there has been a pretty consistent push to make content around the character even after it was clear that it wasn't drawing in money or an audience. At least TWO people out there REALLY want the Riddick-verse to happen. I expect this one to run at least around 2hrs, but there is a lot to work with and it's been exciting seeing it come together.
Business number two, I've decided to move forward with a script that I'm deep into for a patron-only video. Like a lot of people, after the passing of David Lynch I did a lot of thinking about my history and relationship with his work and well, words started coming out of me ("ideas" as Lynch would say while wiggling his fingers) and it seemed to turn into a retrospective of him as filmmaker and inspiration to me. He was of course many things and just thought of himself as an artist living the art life, but I knew him through film/TV so that was just an easy way of making a structure to the thing, but hopefully it will function more as an excuse to go into what each piece meant to me and what memories/anecdotes I have of them. I've been really sporadically hopping between the two scripts as ideas flow from one to the other so both are moving at a brisk pace, but leaving me in a strange state of mind between Vin Diesel and surrealist horror. After hearing the news I made that little Photoshop collage and I think I'll probably use it as the thumbnail unless I think of something better hehe. Anyways, just wanted to keep you in the loop and thank you for all your support. Hope you're doing well, ideally goth and gaming simultaneously <3
Howdy GGN, We got a video in the can! Thanks so much for your support and for waiting a little longer than usual on this one. I felt like I was on a bit of a creative roll and just kept throwing bits at it because they were flowing, ya know? My process is increasingly stream of consciousness haha. Hopefully it doesn't come off as a scatterbrained mess and you find some enjoyment watching me untangle a franchise I've only experienced in my childhood periphery.
There's a couple gags in there that span about a fraction of a second yet took an hour or two to edit, but thanks to a recent CPU upgrade, my rig crashes substantially less frequently (still often though hehe) so I felt compelled to keep doing silly things like that. Anyways, give it a watch if you're interested. Also, the discord poll as determined that the next game review will be Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which i'm already jumping on because i'm psyched to be working on it. Also, I've been vetting some things for a new patron-only video venture that I think has the potential to be pretty funny but I'm not gonna speak it outloud because I have a tendency of being picky with those. The rules I invented for them for no real reason seems to be that they are big, research-heavy things so I'll let you know if I make substantial progress on any of em.
Anyways, I can never repeat enough how grateful I am for your support and for allowing me to explore different realms of content and improve production, etc. Not to mention the whole keeping me housed/fed thing, that's really the big one. Hope your new year has been goth and full of gaming <3
Hope you're having a swell Solstice and that Holiday Manโข has brought you all you desire, lest you be put in "the device". Just thought I'd fill you in on what I'm working on next, in our post Nancy Drew world. So, the obvious one first: The next game video I've been working on is about the 2005 Tekken spin-off and PS2 exclusive, Death by Degrees. I'm still finishing up the script on it but I feel like there is a lot of fun stuff to explore about it, seeing as it was sort of a failed venture that mostly disappointed but has it's strengths. The expected busyness of the holidays and a dead PS2 kind of stalled things, but were back on track and it's chugging along.
The second thing for sure in the works is a video about Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay as it was the winner of the poll held on discord. Real excited to start work on that one! Also, some Patron-only content that was in the works is sort of in limbo. I had it in my head to do a video exploring the discography of bands I really like, so I was starting with the band KMFDM and wrote about 10 pages before their name was (once again) drawn into an awful act of violence. Seeing this sort of thing and the weirdos that worship shooters hugely killed my momentum on the video and I think I'm gonna shelve it for a while. Definitely want to return at some point because I put a lot of work into it. I listened to every single track they ever did (from 20+ albums and numerous singles, side-projects and soundtracks) and took notes on all of them, consuming so much of this band that Youtube gave me a badge for being in the top 0.5% of listeners haha!
Other things I could pick back up are half-finished scripts for a video about Industrial music used in video games and one similar to the previous 4 (an examination of goofy paranormal stuff). Hope to show you something more substantial soon! As usual, thanks so much for all your support. I'm eternally confused but grateful that you're still here <3
Hey there GGN, The Nancy Drew video is finally up! Hope you enjoy it. Now for the apologies (it's for me if you'll indulge) due to some significant life changes I had to move rather unexpectedly and my schedule was thrown out of whack in order to find a new place to live and set it up for videos. I'm not big on dumping my personal lore on to you, but for the last 5 years I think I've moved at least once a year. A big part of this is I grew up and have always lived in various places around San Diego County which, if you don't know has become one of the most expensive places to live in California. For a while I got good at making it work by living like a goblin and moving around when the rent got raised. But, I finally got far out of there and will hopefully be more comfortable going forward. The downside? I'm out in the middle of freaking nowhere! I heard a pack of coyotes outside the other night and they've been getting closer. Sometimes it feels like Darkwood or some shit. You'll get some idea of the new space in the video, but it's a work in progress! Anyways, I don't intend to make you wait this long for the next vid and I only recount all this to say thanks so much for keeping me afloat during this and the previous transitions haha
After all the moving/painting/paperwork and stress, I feel like I was little off my game, but I ain't slowing down a bit. I also have a few half-written scripts for various potential patron vids so i'm sure one of those will emerge as something hehe, anyway, happy holidays and thanks again for allowing me to land on my feet here with minimal injury.
Hey there, GGN. Sorry for the abnormally long wait for this one. Things got IN THE WAY. This ain't the way we should be runnin' things! But, hey we did it. The Nation prevails. Hope you like this one, there are at least two parts that make me giggle.
I have already begun some work on the next two things I wanna get out, one a review of an older adventure game and the other a (less absurdly long) patreon vid. So, I don't suspect as erratic an upload schedule. Maybe i'll hold another poll to make up for lagging on this one. Thanks so much for supporting me and putting up with me <3
Oh right, one of the things I was waiting on for this one was SELLING OUT. Sorta, not really. I have one of them partner links for GOG in the pinned comment so if you wanna get a copy of Shadow Man: Remastered at a big ol' discount then I think....I get...like...something? Uh, not sure. Maybe I get exposure points! For now...I sleep.
I feel like it's been a while. Has it? I dunno. I've been in the content mines for a good while and was just emerging to tell you that my latest deep dive into paranormal content is up for patrons only! A few things:
There is good news and annoying news, for one, it's over 4 hours long. I don't know which category that falls into, but also it's age-restricted. This is sort of justified because it deals with a lot of heavy subject matter...or rather it deals with the way heavy subject matter is handled incompetently and in funny ways which are apparent within the first five minutes of the thing I think. I include plenty of warning within the video, but for sure there is some dark topics covered and either I go back into this absurdly long video and censor certain terms that YouTube doesn't like or I just eat the loss of potential ad revenue or whatever and have it up as intended. If I understand it right, you have to be logged in and over 18 to access it? Let me know if thats a big issue and maybe I can post it to Archive or somethin'. I just feel like I worked too hard on this thing to compromise on some words that ain't even curse words, ya know? Anywho, I hope you like it! I promise I am returning to work on that Shadowman video, but I knew I'd be out of town for a couple days here (it's 12am here and officially my bday lfg! death approaches!) and I wanted to have something up for ya.
GAMING will return in a big way. Oh, also, I made a commitment to myself to begin earnestly attempting to make my own point-and-click game after being inspired by Steam's last NextFest, so maybe I'll post some updates here on how that's coming along. At the moment I have like a 30-page document detailing characters, lore and mechanics I want to implement and I've been dabbling with the coding end which has been a bit of a nightmare, but I'm really excited about the project.
Anyways, thanks for putting up me and thanks for all your support. -G
Well, 7th times the charm. YouTube really fought me on this one but for now, the video is up and monetized! Hoping it stays that way. Every video is a bit of a learning experience and the lesson this time around is just don't use any clips of a John Woo film from here on out!
Thanks for being patient with this one, I still plan on sticking to the schedule I posted last time so i'll be finishing up writing/recording the patron only vid while I'm setting things up for SHADOWMAN. Thanks for all your support! It's really exciting to be able to experiment and implement new things like my little tv corner set and also, it's not super noticeable, but really amusing to me that the cutaway clips I used for this one were all sourced from moldy VHS tapes I found at the flea market and digitized. I've always wanted to actually pull those from weird old media instead of looking around for low-res uploads from dead channels. I mean, it's a thing that amounts to a combined 10 seconds, but it's one of the many joys of "content" I have found.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the video and I'll get right back to the grindstone on the next two vids. Thanks again and the next one will be better! <3
Just wanted to give you an update on what to expect over the next couple months. Firstly, I kinda F'd this month and got too invested in different projects and couldn't complete one of them in time. So, here I am with a couple vids in various states. I guess, to in some way make up for being late I'll tell you what I'm planning to do for the next 4 vids! I am sorry about the wait between vids being so long, it's not a thing I want to make a regular occurrence, but I think/hope this extra cook time will amount to some good stuff and once again I thank you endlessly for allowing me that time to cook with your support.
1. The next video I will release publicly is currently deep in editing so it hopefully shouldn't be much longer. It's looking to be about an 1.5hr review of MAX PAYNE 2: THE FALL OF MAX PAYNE. I've wanted to do this one for a long time because I have a particular affinity for it, but that also means I'm being super particular and picky with it's. I think it will certainly be A TAKE.
2. The second video I've been working on is in the middle of writing stages and it will be the third of my Patron-Only paranormal vids, playing out much like the last two have for the first half and then switching styles in the second. This one I'm really excited about because it actually required me to travel to a famed spooky location and likely break some kind of law in capturing research for it. It's certainly one of the weirder things I've tried to do so hopefully it amounts to a good vid.
3. The third video to expect was the winner of the Discord poll...SHADOWMAN. I'll be taking a look at both the original and Nightdive's Remaster. Always wanted to do this one and I'm excited to move ahead with it!
4. The fourth video I have in the works actually proved to be one of the bigger distractions this month, it's to be another Patron-Only vid, but not the format I've been playing around with for the paranormal stuff. Rather, I've been tinkering with a stupid experiment to possibly explore content similar to the late DARKENED STREAMS. My Buffy video not being immediately shot down despite being full of dozens of clips of a WB/CW show has emboldened me to attempt a RETURN. Those videos were meant to be an easy way to pump out content about something I was very opinionated on, but that meant formatting them in a way that YouTube HATED. So, in order to move forward with it I'm just gonna get weird with it and treat it a bit more as a season retrospective with more bits/effort involved. I can't promise this will recapture the enjoyment people had for those old vids, but maybe they will be better I don fuckin kno.
Anyways, all this typing has eaten in to time I could be editing. I hope you're doing well and staying goth and also... staying gaming. Thanks for everything <3
Just stopping by to let you know that the Buffy video is done and dusted (a little Buffy style humor for you hehe(ironic?)). This one started out real easy, but then became a massive headache. On top of having to source all these random clips of things I mentioned, I wanted to update some bits of my format and incorporate a new set (corner of the room) for retro gaming stuff. I've let the video sit online for a while and YouTube doesn't seem to have a problem with it yet, but it wouldn't be the first time I confidently posted a love letter to a certain WB/CW television series that it eventually shut down. I'm excited to take a little breather before moving on with my next two projects. One a patron only vid, and the other my usual gaming nonsense.
Hopefully Buffy fans will appreciate this one, and hopefully those of you who haven't seen the show will be intrigued enough to look into it. Word of warning, there are a few spoiler-adjacent things mentioned in the video because the game's plot takes place in season 3 of show and also, I just can't help myself bringing up little anecdotes and shit from a show I like. I don't think there's anything major in there, but I know I can be weird about spoilers for something I get way into. I'm pretty sure I have ended friendships permanently because they spoiled something haha
Thank you so much for all your support, it never leaves my mind how much I ๐ตowe it all to you๐ต okayfunsoverbacktowork!
Just letting you know that my third exploration of obscure paranormal content is now uploaded and it's a little over two hours long. It takes a look at two shows from two different eras that share a host, but feature wildly different vibes. Hopefully some of you get a kick out of a non-believers fascination with this stuff. I mean I've watched so much of it, I have to do SOMETHING with it.
Right now I'm going full steam ahead on a video about the 2004 Buffy the Vampire Slayer game for the Xbox as a result of the discord poll. I'm really excited to get further along in the process, but just wanted to EXTRA thank you for supporting me and allowing me the space to experiment with stuff like these weirdo side vids! I hope you're staying goth and staying gaming, but right now I gotta get back to staying snoozing <3
Lots of cool stuff going on this month. For starters I just posted my review of Blair Witch: Volume I: Rustin Parr! Terminal Reality's entry in a budget trilogy meant to resurface their flat-lining publisher. I hope you find it interesting and I hope you don't mind that the video is probably longer than a play-through of the dang thing!
In other news the next patron only video is coming along nicely and is looking to be around the length of the last one at around 2hrs. It deals with an influential group of ghost-hunters and I'm excited to get it out. Also, the patron poll for the next game I cover has concluded and Buffy the Vampire Slayer has emerged victorious. I don't know if ya'll were just handing it to me or if I just have a heckload of fang-freaks in this community, either way I'm proud.
As always thank you so much for all your support. Without it I wouldn't be able to sustain myself making gaming content let alone find the time to explore other avenues of oddball content. Hope you're doin' alright in these miserable times <3
Hey there GGN, Hope you're all doing well and were adequately prepared for Holiday Man's ascension. I won't keep you too long, I just wanted to post the video and let you know how thankful I am that you've supported me all this year. Every day I'm thankful that I get to make these profoundly dumb little videos. Have a good one <3
It's almost 2AM and I'm coming off some kind of flu so I'll keep this brief. This one was meant to be a shorter, simpler throwback type video, but a lot of life got in the way and well...it may have wriggled out of my hands. But, as I say to myself after every video I create..."I'll do better on the next one." Either way, I hope you like it and that it isn't too apparent that I was sick for half of it and exhausted from moving in the other half. Excited to be set up to work again and jump into something new. Thank you so much for supporting me and cushioning my fall on many occasions, making crazy times like this not the real horror-show I know they could be. Okay, i'm gonna press LIVE and then catch some Z's. Night night <3
Sheesh, Whoof, Huff...How ya doin GGN? I just wanted to share some interesting developments and give you an update as to what I've been up to. BAD NEWS FIRST. I don't have anything finished in time for Halloween. This is rather unfortunate in my eyes as it's the only holiday I observe (aside from the day that Holiday Man visits us. Praise his ascension and may we ascend with him). Thankfully, for me...It's always like this.
The good news is that I have a video that is in editing and pretty far into it. The only hold up? I had to move rather unexpectedly after the place I was at got a bit too crowded. I want to film some live bits and interstitial stuff, but I've been moving and things are a bit scattered. I will tell you that it's about an hour, hour and 20mins long and it's about an obscure, surreal point-and-click adventure game named SYNNERGIST that was released in 1996, but never received a US release due to it's publisher closing down shortly after (it may have been that game's fault). I suppose I felt like returning to my roots, back to the cring(ier) era of my channel. It should be a lot of fun and I don't expect it to take much longer. Aside from that I've been gathering material for another Patron only video about paranormal content and particularly when it's in bad taste.
What had me longing for some point-and-click content was that my channel, after almost 10 years of existence, through many failed iterations, has reached a substantial milestone of 100k subscribers. A number so large I don't have the mental acuity to fathom entirely. I'm sure it's a hollow, silly sort of thing to be emotionally compromised by, hundreds of baby-gamers slinging...I don't know...Freddy Fazbear fanfic or Amogus Cosplay reach that every day. But, it's an intense thing for someone as hermit-like as me. If you came in on the wave that the Invisible War video brought in, I'd like to thank you for your support and assure you that...look, I'll get better at this whole content thing eventually. Think of me like an investment, a fixer-upper. With that, I'm gonna get back to work and I hope you have a good spooky day. -G
It's done. It's finally done. The longest video I've made so far also happened to be the most frustrating. NO FORCE IN THIS WORLD WANTED THIS VIDEO TO SEE THIS VIDEO BROUGHT TO LIGHT. I hope all my fussing over this thing at the very least gets one or two giggles out of you. Thanks so much for your patience and just now that, once again, I do not at all intent for this to be the normal pace of my output. This was a weird fluke that coincided with a lot of life garbage. I think i'm gonna take a length break and make my next video a short but sweet one (don't hold me too that, I have never stuck to the plan hehehe) Anyways, I feel like a huge bottleneck has been cleared and I can think again so here I go again on my own, back to the content mine after a quick nap and some gummi candies.
Hey there GGN, I don't have much of an update to share with ya as we start the new month. As you can probably tell, it's been a couple months since my last game review and I'm sorry it's taken so long. I don't have a great excuse other than I really got into that ghost video and also, the Invisible War video turned out to be like 40 pages long, required (okay, it didn't) three playthroughs and I really want to go all out on it. I promise the next video I'll try to be less ambitious and actually get something out on my normal timeline because I gotta say I DO NOT like going more than a month without there being something up for the whole channel to see. I've got quite a few "are you dead?" "so...when's the next video?" "remember when there used to be videos?" messages across all platforms. Which I totally understand. I set a standard that I've been slipping on but I'm working to make up for it. Maybe it's a sign that I gotta cover more point and click adventure games or something without so much history and fallout surrounding it!
Good news is I slammed some energy drinks and ignored all other responsibilities the last few days and now the hard part (for me) is done and I can dive into the main editing for this current video. This is the part that I think I'm kind of good at doing quickly, the process...it's exhilarating. That part doesn't take more than a few days (but I'm not going to guess a number because I'm never right) normally depending on how much I add to it last minute. I don't know why I felt this was the video to dump all this extra time into, maybe it's because I'm approaching 100k subs and I want to be like..."worthy" of that? It's a big scary number! Or maybe it's just appropriate that I cover a game built on hubris by overthinking and trying to reinvent the wheel. Either way I just want you to know I'm doing my best to get this thing out and for it to be entertaining and I have been working hard on it. I've also been doing a lot of planning for what I want to do with patron-only content. I've got a bunch of little outlines and plans in the mix so hopefully I'll have a little something spooky for just my special lil critters come spooky season.
Okay, I'm going to get back to it! Thank you so much for your continued support. I never for a moment forget that I owe anything I have to you. I'll try to make this thing worth the wait <3
I made an almost 2hr video that wound up consuming a lot of time and I chose to dive head first into it because it was a great help in seeing me through a dark time. You know when you just recede into hermitdom and mainline a shitload of one particular thing? Thats what this is the result of. So, it's been up for a while and hasn't been blocked, but it was the first time I tried. I guess there's no harm in me just editing/reuploading if that happens since it's just for ya'll.
I promise I'm going to work my ass off getting that INVISIBLE WAR video done, and I've got a lot of good stuff in the chamber for it, but this video was just the thing I needed to get me through something I guess, so now you have to be subjected to it. I know nobody is yelling this at me or anything, but I just felt it worth reminding that the video game content is my first love and stuff like this is normally just an extra gift I'm capable of pursuing with your help and i'm so f-wording grateful for that. Sorry about lagging with responding to messages. It was my birthday this month and that doubly just makes me want to hide in a dark hole and not listen to anybody. We healing now. Thanks for everything.
My latest video is live and it's about A VIDEO GAME. It's an odd one and I hope you enjoy me trying to keep track of character names and making funny noises. I felt like I needed to dive into something wacky and obscure to reset my myself after doing two AAA games in a row. I'm going to be honest, I have no idea how this video wound up being so long. It's all such a blur. It was like a constantly escalating challenge to myself. Like, what if I just put the same amount of time into something that did not need it? What then? What if I went deeper? What if I did the same joke about 5 times in the same video? So, it's got a weird energy. So do I. It's like 2am and I've just been kinda staring at the dashboard hoping the video doesn't suddenly become age-restricted.
In other news, look out for another video about ghost content and perhaps some short grimpressions down the line in the coming weeks. Oh, also, I might do another poll to decide what I cover next because I might need help after this experiment. So, if you receive a ping from the discord in the next couple days, I apologize in advance! As always thank you so much for all your support. Without without which, I wouldn't be able to spend weeks on a video for a game nobody cares about and will grant me no obscure-gamer-clout. Thanks so much for letting me do this <3
Howdy GGN, My contractually obligated discord vote video on Vagrant Story is finally up. After much struggle and a wacky schedule last month, it is here and as usual I feel like it's not the best, but ALSO as usual I am emboldened to do better next time. I got a lot of ideas swirling around in the ol gamer brain. I'm gonna move full steam ahead with the next Patron only video and pick away at a game review. I've been kind of neglecting messages as I was deep in the content mines, but I'm gonna go through em now. Alright, I'll keep this brief and give you an update as soon as I have more to share. As always thank you so much for your support, without which I wouldn't survive these periods where I fall behind schedule <3
