Sneaky Sneak Peek Update

Hey there GGN,

I wanted to post the 2hr AMA video I threw together from your questions on Discord EXCLUSIVELY to patrons for at least a little while. In part as an apology because the Vagrant Story video is taking much longer than I anticipated. It's in editing at the moment and right now (without the live bits and ending business) is about 1hr and 40mins. I'm excited about a few bits in there though and I'm gonna grind like heck to get it done very soon I just want it to be consistently entertaining in the end. I know the whole, "I'm sorry I didn't get this out in time" thing is mostly just annoying to the subscriber, like, you didn't have to know that, what does it matter? But, I have a schedule I want to stick to and I fucked it up, so really IT WOULD MAKE ME FEEL BETTER to give you a little bit of content during the wait :)

Thanks so much for your support, which allows me to make such dumb dumb failures in planning and thank you for submitting questions if you did, I'm always terrified that nobody will ask anything and it will be embarrassing, but was pleased to see a bunch, even if many were silly teehee questions. I appreciate the heck out of you.

Okay, back to editing!

Primal video is live (and various updates)

Hey there GGN,
Well, illness tried to get me, YouTube tried to get me, but sadly I could not be got and here it is. This weird little video that I really struggled to get out within the month and just barely made it. Well, in some timezones I did! I hope it's not too apparent how much I was scrambling. I don't have too much to update you on, other then (if you didn't know) the discord poll winner was Squaresoft's JRPG hybrid Vagrant Story and I've already been capturing footage for it. It's gonna be a tough one, but I'm ready for it! Now that I'm done with Primal I can balance working on that and a another paranormal video I really want to make, also been considering an AMA type video because they are fun and easy to make. Well, could be fun, I dunno. Just an idea, Jeez. I might just take a minute to make more Vincent Price memes or something. We'll see! Thanks so much for all your support. I quite literally could not do any of this without you <3

Sickly update

Hey there GGN,
Sickbeard over here. I went out of town for a couple days and came back not feeling so good. I'm trying not to let it affect my productivity, but it's really hard to focus on content creation at the moment. I'm shaking it off though. In case I'm off my feet longer than usual, I wanted to offer you up some info. I'm pretty committed at this point to making a video for the 2003 game Primal. It's been on my list of games to make content about for a long long time and I was really in a PS2 mood and thought, heck, it's about time and began replaying it. I started with an original PS2 copy, but halfway through learned that if you get it off of PSN on PS4 there is a cleaned up sorta HD-afied version which actually looks great aside from the weird moments where it becomes pixelated to maintain frame rate. Included is a taste of the wild ad campaign that showed up in seemingly every gaming magazine that year. Also, while I was out of town I caught an episode of this amusing ghost hunting program that I've been writing for as another PATREON PARANORMAL SECRET MENU type video. So, I'm really looking forward to getting back in the content mine for that.

At the moment what I've been doing is sniffling, spacing out and making memes with AI Vincent Price. I've been posting them in the trash section of the discord or on my twitter (https://twitter.com/grimebeard/status/1631092072265707521) I dunno if you knew, but I'm a huge fan of his and even have his face tattooed on me. It's been a sinful pleasure resurrecting him with cursed technology.

Anyways, again, I hope I can get over this quickly and get back to work, but thank you so much for you support and for allowing me to have time to recover and not be a panicked mess about missing a few days production. Hoping I have more to share with you soon <3

Breakdown video is up!

Hey there GGN,
My video for Breakdown (2004) is finally up after several re-uploads and PC issues. I feel like with this one will really test your patience if you have any aversion to the "bits" in my videos heh. But, there are some edits here that still make me giggle and I was sorta proud of. Anyways, I hope you guys like it. I'm brainstorming some new content that will be exclusive to patrons as well as the next game review video. Not too much exciting stuff to comment on, but I'm not slowing down on the content mining and I'll probably post another update around the end of the month. Thanks so much for your support and for allowing me to take a gamble on an hour and a half long video about an obscure xbox game and fill it with incoherent silliness. It means a lot to me <3

Patron-Exclusive Content

Greetings GGN,

I'm posting, for you only, an unlisted video about a strange documentary I've been thinking about for a while. I consume a lot of oddball paranormal content and I've wanted to make content about them for a while because I'm not a big believer, but as my boy Moldy says, "I wan beliv". I dunno, I keep the door open to possibility and even own a few ghost hunting gizmos, but I'm also way too cynical haha. I never really had the nerve to dive into this stuff for a bunch of reasons, but I figured this would be a good opportunity to give patrons more bang for their buck and let you in on this experimental content. It's been up for a bit and hasn't been claimed, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This came about really stream-of-conscious like and I just kinda let it play out so it's not quite as structured as my other stuff, but there are a couple moments that came out fun, I think.

Oh, Breakdown video is coming along nicely, already into the editing process and i'm really going to push to have it out in...shhhesh...ooff..errmm...a week. Yeah....YEAH...heh...I can do that. Anyways, thanks so much for your support and hope you don't mind this departure from my usual content.

Stay, gothgamernationing

The plan is happening.

Howdy GGN, figured I'd give you another update on what I've been working on at the start of the month there. Important thing out of the way first, I was working on more than one main review video, but ultimately one seemed to steal more of my focus so I guess I'll just lock down that I think I'm moving forward with a review of Breakdown (2004), the first-person brawler for the original Xbox. A game I had attempted to make a video about a year ago, but it broke me physically.
Not this time.
I've always been fascinated by this strange title and little bits of it have been in my transition title cards for a while now. It's been looming above me like unfinished business so I'm finally "finishing the fight" as Jonathan Halo might say. I'm well into writing the script for it and I can only guess it will be in my usual range of 40mins-1.5hrs. Not a lot of dev history and what not to dive into, but plenty of experiences and tiny details to marvel at.

Secondly, the paranormal video I mentioned before is still being worked on. It's been stuck in this place of "almost done, but not really" for a second, mostly because I've been trying to edit it in a way that doesn't get it flagged. I think at this point it's mostly all laid out, I'm just going to intersperse FPS clips of me at my desk to break up the amount of time there is just "the content in question" on screen. So that is nearing completion and I've been thinking I might make that available just to patrons first, in part as a focus test sort of thing, but also because I'm nervous about posting non-gaming content because it's never gone over particularly well. But, I do think there might be something fun to explore here as someone who has a paradoxical appreciation for the paranormal and consumed an unhealthy amount of content related to it. A "I want to believe", but also, "I'm too much of a reddit-atheist to believe" type situation. So, I imagine that will be done first in the next couple of days and you can let me know if it's worthy of becoming a thing I tap into again.

Thirdly, I have been working on music, which is kind of surreal. I really didn't expect to feel emboldened to continue doing that, but the feeling is there and I'm going to pursue it. At the moment this musical arc that has been overtaking me is made from the keywords: haunted, sad, minimal, dance, and a little slutty. We'll see where that takes me. Right now I've been working on track that is coming together kind of fun about my relationship with my sleep-paralysis demon.

Anyways, I'm just about done slamming this coffee, so I'm gonna get back to work, BUT...As always I want to let you know that I'm deeply, grovelling, truly thankful for all your support. Every time I feel like I fucked up and didn't have a productive day, I space out or get caught up watching Vampire Diaries with my blank word document on the other monitor, I have to remind myself that I can afford that sometimes, that I'll still make rent because I have the GGN looking out for me. Thanks for everything. I'll try to make ya proud.

The Darkness has cometh

Hey there GGN, just letting you know that my video for The Darkness is finally done and oh boy was it a fighter. I think the videos about games I really like are often the hardest, every step of the way i'll think of something else I should have said or some slight change in wording I could have made until it quickly becomes a Frankenstein video. I think I managed to shake myself out of that in a timely enough manner. I hope ya like it!

Also, I see I've gotten a few DMs on here and i'll get to answering those soon, sorry about that. I was just in a real sprint towards the end there to get this guy out. Work on other stuff is progressing steadily. My little side project paranormal thing is still in editing and i've been capturing footage for the next video a little bit each day. Should be a weird one, but fun!

Oh, and just some exciting channel development, my album PURE ACID HELL sold enough that I was able to afford an upgrade to my camera. I was still using a GOPRO from 2015, so I finally got something from this decade and it's all thanks to your support for my lil music doodles.

Alright, i'll keep this brief and probably update you on the progress on the other stuff in a few days. For now i'm going to watch Vampire Diaries and then probably nap as my reward. Thanks so much for everything again. Hope you're all staying goth or gaming, preferably both <3

Operation: Content 2023

Hey there GGN,

As the horror of 2022 comes to an end and births the misery of 2023 I thought I'd update you on the channel. Let ya know how things are running. Oh, first, if you hadn't caught wind of it, a collection of tracks I've been working on all year is now live on Bandcamp for free and Spotify. You can search me up, ignore the other guy with a near identical name and check it out. I really appreciate all those who have already downloaded it and had nice things to say about it. In a way that album stands as a symbol of the privilege I've been gifted by your support. I had the time and freedom to create for the channel and also pursue my silly hobbies. Thank you so much for that. It's kind of strange, in the leadup to making the album live, I had firmly decided that, "I don't think I'll make any more music beyond backing tracks for videos." But as I saw it up there and saw it actually getting downloaded, I was filled with a yearning to create more and started jotting down some ideas for future projects to feed my parasocial addiction to your validation. My NEED to show someone my nightmares and have them nod their head and say, "neat".

In the video department, work on my video for THE DARKNESS is going smoothly and in the editing process. I found a lot to pack into it from personal experience to it's source material and as it stands, without any of the live bits or anecdotes I think up along the way, it's at 1.5hrs. That's subject to change a lot I'd imagine though.

In between videos I'm usually working on a side project of sorts. That used to be the album, before that it was a point and click game and then an animated short, but for the past couple days I've been editing another video that at the moment I'm unsure if I'll even end up posting. It's non-game related and a work in progress. It's kind of like a weird analysis of a piece of paranormal media which I consume copious amounts of. It being unrelated to games, I'd imagine it would die in the dark on my channel, but I've wanted to make it for a long time and it's just something I need to see through I guess. If I'm not confident in it, maybe I'll drop it here. I feel like it's conceptually something Jenny Nicholson might do, stylewise, but I'm having to deal with the fact that I have no "on-camera" corporeal form. And as many comments have told me over the years, the very concept that I appear in some form other than a disembodied set of hands would be terrible, but I'll figure out a way to have the best of both worlds.

So, looking forward at 2023, I've done something very uncharacteristic...I've PLANNED to make videos about specific games. Maybe I've spent too much time admiring Sphere Hunters work ethic, but I'm actually gonna set like....ambitious goals....and uh...see them through? One of these games will be very on brand for the channel, the other might cause chaos. I assure you, our bond as goth gamers may be tested during this period. But, I'm mostly confident that the content will be worth it and I'm planning some live bits that will actually involve a little TRAVEL. I might have to greet the cruel light of day after years spent entombed for the sake of content. I'm actually like...Optimistic? I think that's what this is πŸ€”

It's weird.
I don't think I like it yet.

But, I can't repeat enough how much your support has enabled. How many dumb ideas it will birth and how many basic survival needs I now have met plus a little change left for gamer drinks. You're everything, GGN

THIS YEAR. Let's do some gaming for once πŸ€

Nocturne Redo is complete

Alright, it is done and with that some kind of weight has been lifted. Not all of it, I'm sure I'll remake it again in a few years. Maybe that'll be my thing. A Lucasian obsession. Sorry, for the wait on it. I was battling a lot of demons trying to get this done internal and external. The good news is that from what I've completed of the Darkness video that process has been really smooth and I suspect will come about much faster.

I appreciate you all humoring me with this whole remake business. Hopefully it's different and expansive enough that it was worth it. I'm not going to be slackin' tho. The post video celebrating will be cut short. The work is never done. The gaming does not end. If anything I'm gonna work harder during the holidays because they are usually miserable hehe.

Alright, I'm gonna maybe be in stasis for a few hours and then it's right back to NYC and THE DARKNESS. Hope you're all doing well/goth/gaming. I can't tell you how much appreciate the opportunity to spend so much time working on one thing like that. Not saying I want there to be such a long break between, but just that if it happens I won't be sleeping in my car. You're everything πŸ’šπŸ€

A Nocturnal Update

Hey there GGN, since I feel like I'm gonna have my nose to the grindstone for a bit I figured I'd fill you in on where my heads at. So, The Darkness won the discord poll and I've been playing that and capturing footage for it from the 360 version while taking notes. It's certainly one that I've wanted to cover for a long time and I'm excited to get deeper into the process. Meanwhile I've been working on the script for a longform video about a game I already covered, though it was several years ago,

Nocturne (1999).

I don't really plan on addressing it much within the video, so I'll let you know here, some of the reasons I wanted to do this. For one, when I made the video for Nocturne it was when YouTube wanted you to go for clicks instead of minutes watched so I was always trying to make videos as short and to the point as possible. Weird to think for so long I worried that people would despise long videos and not bother with them. Since I started making them longer, Ive found that this is the kind of content I enjoy making the most. A big ol thing that makes me PC lag just looking at it's timeline. Reason number two is an extention of that, I love Nocturne and I have so much of my formative love of games wrapped up in it so it doesn't feel right being a short video I made when I wasn't nearly as competent at making them. In a way I knew even then that someday I'd want to remake it or at least that I wasn't ready to do what I wanted with it.

Reason the third, I fucking hate that video. I understand some people enjoyed it, but it has, over the years, actively bothered me. Like a weird discolored blotch on my channel. I think I even make a weird unprovoked Gamergate comment in it without knowing much about the cicrumstances around that event other than, "Huh, guess people are mad at some lady." It was just a gamer thing I could comment on and Nocturne deserves better. It's too much of a part of my love of games to not be more in line with my recent output. Which kinda leads to reason four.

Ideally I'd like to (in the near future) cover the other games tangential to it, which would include one other remake(maybe, but I really don't want to normalize that with myself) :

- Blair Witch: Volume 1: Rustin Parr
- Blair Witch: Volume 2: The Legend of Coffin Rock
- Blair Witch: Volume 3: The Elly Kedward Tale
- Bloodrayne (maybe, could also include its recent re-release and ports)
- Bloodrayne 2
- Aeon Flux

This is not at all like, my gameplan, just something I'd feel more excited to do without the open wound that was the first Nocturne video. There are of course other games I'd like to have in between as well as poll winners. This is all just a brainstorm here. We're just talking, but for sure I want a better Nocturne video. Since I'm sure it being replaced may bother some, I'll probably end up just making it unlisted and having that link somewhere here. In the past I've just taken videos to a shed out back when I feel they no longer represent what I want my channel to be, but I have noticed it upsets some who may have revisited it every now and then and I wouldn't want that even though it's hard for me to see any value in them. Just pls don't re-upload.

ANY GODDAMN WAY, I'm trying to overlap the work on Nocturne/The Darkness so that you won't have to wait too long if the remade video doesn't interest you. Aside from that, I spontaneously devoted a couple days to making a song for a contest that CDPR is doing for Cyperpunk 2077. I already submitted it and it could wind up in the game which would be cool because the TTRPG setting is a big influence to me and if it doesn't then it was an excuse to add another track to the album I was trying to finish up anyways hehe. Either way I'll share it eventually because I think it's pretty fun.

Umm...what else...I'm sure I'm forgetting some of the plates I been spinning here. I revamped my channel's banner which looks kinda neat and cybergoth now. Oh, if you use Tumblr, I'm gonna try to post there more since Twitter seems to be in perpetual flames as of late.

Alright, I'll wrap this up. I felt like reassuring you that I have stuff I'm working on, which I feel more compelled to do when I'm actively fighting off burnout. Haha. More work! Signalis review is up!

Hey there GGN,
My hour-long review of Signalis is up and as a postmortem is a mix of some fun live action bits and an insane amount of, "uh, I don't know I guess this means this maybe?", hopefully ya'll have had time to check out the game because it's really good and worth experiencing. Alright, since its...hoo-boy 2:30am, I'm gonna zonk out and then get back on that grind. Hope you're doing well and keepin' it spooky.

Vampire Diaries Review

Howdy GGN,

Just uploaded a goofy video review of the Vampire Diaries FMV adventure game. Hope it gives you a giggle. It was supposed to be shorter, but I kept adding bits to it while trying to rush it and make way for the next video, which is looking to be pretty big. I feel like I may have made some credit errors just because I rushed the process and if so, I'm really sorry about that! I'll take my time next time. But, hey I might not have and it's all in my brain. Anywho, if you get a chance to check out Signalis I would suggest it as it's a pretty great little experience that I'm gonna ramble a lot about. It's still right in the middle of the scripting stage, but that's usually what I lag the most on, after that it should fly by.

Also I've seen some sketches of the art for my "album" and it's got me real excited and I'm pretty close to locking down all the stuff I wanna put into it. I don't know why I keep assuring you that more content is coming, but IT IS. Hope you've had an ever increasingly spooky month. Okay, back to content (typetyeptype)

Progress Update (Spooky Edition)

Howdy GGN,
Just wanted to update you on what's coming up next. Also, hope your October has been gloomy and spooky as it should be. For starters I decided to cut short a stream of Grimpressions videos because I got into a good rhythm working on 3 things at once.

Thing 1: A full game review of an old FMV adventure game that will be on the shorter side, but I am the furthest along with it. Right now it's looking like it will be around 35-40mins, but there is plenty of time to add in some silly garbage around it. I'm keeping the game choice there a secret because it is really dumb and I would like you to experience the disappointment as a surprise :)

Thing 2: Another full review of a game that right now isn't even out yet, but will be released on the 27th called SIGNALIS. This one will likely be much longer as there is a lot to pick apart about it. Right now I'm in the writing phase and I'm about 7 pages in and it's chugging along. The dev gave me the go ahead to just spoil the whole thing day one, but I'm not confident enough that I'd make that deadline, so that will probably be done closer to end of OCT/start of NOV. I also wanted to do two vids closer together because, since it's a new game that I'm sure many into survival horror will be interested in, they'd probably wait to watch the video. This way there will at least be something to tide you over if you're skipping that one. I dunno, I dunno how new games work, it's been too long. It's not like an ad or anything, they just sent me a key and it turned out I had a lot of notes on it. Anyways, hope that turns out alright hah.

Thing 3: I've had substantially more time to work on music (or rather more time alone to scream and embarrass myself). I've made a lot of progress on the "album" I've been work-shopping. It's a collection of songs that I am LEAST embarrassed of, and they are all unified by a concept. That concept being a fake video game universe that I made up. There was a time last year that I was looking into game design and while I do think I learned a lot about it, I was sort of scared by how much time I could sink into it just bit by bit trying to get one thing to do the other so I stepped away, but I still had a bunch of left over ideas and I thought it would be neat to channel that into music. Some of it appeared on my channel before, but will be cleaned up/altered, but the rest is new stuff. I was lagging on it for a while but I got a lot done (the tracklist is pictured above there, and the asterisks are tracks that are pretty much done barring any last minute changes) I've also commissioned some art for the cover which should be really neat and if I figure out how it works i'd like to try to get some physical releases or at least get it on spotify. We'll see.

Extra Thing: A while ago I asked if anyone would buy holographic Parapug stickers featuring my fan art doodle of him. Well I couldn't let the idea go so I had some made. Haven't seen them yet, but they should be arriving soon. If they are super cool, I'll look into the best way to sell them.

Alright, I'm gonna get back to it, but as always thank you so much for all your support. It never really leaves my mind that like, I get to work on all this stuff and pursue these weird goals on a whim because of you. Thanks so much <3

The messiah has come.

Howdy GGN,
The Messiah video is up. Hope ya like it. As always thank you so much for your support and for helping with the choice of game through discord. I'm freakin' pumped to get started on spooky season content. I got a lot of ideas that will extend beyond october into spooky quarter. Also, I don't know if I mentioned, but you may have noticed the last couple videos have not had a "bitter recompense" section. I'm sure there are some who weren't a fan of it and are glad to see it omitted. Honesty, I think they can provide some fun moments, but I've decided not to force it if I can't find good material. So, I haven't committed to it's removal entirely, but yeah, if all the reviews seem to parrot one basic idea and are worded kinda boring I think I won't bother trying to make those funny. Anyways, thanks again and I hope the start of spooky season has been treating ya well.

Oh, also, while I have mixed feelings about the game, I did feel inspired a great deal by it's Y2K design sense so the last 20 seconds of the video features a new logo layout that could also be merchified somehow. I dunno why I got merch on the brain lately. Let me know if you vibe with it.

Spookiness Approaches

Hey there GGN,

Figured it had been too long since I updated you on my progress. The Messiah video is pretty much done, some PC annoyances have slowed me down, but I'm just reviewing it and addressing any lulls or bits that don't work. If all goes well it should be up within the next couple days. Won't be my longest video or anything seeing as though it's not a very long or dense game narrative-wise. At the moment it's clocking in around 45mins. If you're bummed by the lack of long-form content, the good news is that I can quickly get to work on my video (videos?) for spooky month. Which I've already begun contemplating. Pondering like a ghostly orb. Also, if you're not in the patron discord channel you probably missed, but I've been theorizing and doodling some Parapug merch. I have this dumb aspiration of turning him into a shiny prismatic sticker you'd get out of a machine in a mall or something.  I dunno, think it could be cute. Let me know what ya think!

Stay goth/gaming, nation.

uh, I couldn't figure out how to just add the image to this post so...

Fallout Tactics video is up

Hey there GGN,

Well, in keeping with the theme of this game's production, I had a hell of a time trying to get this up. Everything from technical issues to bad writing, most of which was changed or deleted in the edit, to burnout, to me just pacing back and forth in my room trying to make the words appear.  Weird because I started out so confident that this would be an easier project to tackle. I guess I can never really assume how the content winds will blow. Anyways, I hope you like it and I don't think the next one will take as long because I'm just going to assume my brain will be fixed now that this vidoe is out of it and I don't have to think about Fallout for a while and constantly second-guess all my Fallout opinions.

For now I think I'm gonna nap/play Gloomwood or something and then return to the mines in the morning. Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement. As always...I promise to...do better next time :)

Emerging from the wasteland.

Howdy GGN, just wanted to give you an update on my progress before the month is out. Firstly, I have been lagging a bit (well, by my standards I guess) with this Fallout Tactics video, in part because I took what I guess is like the first "vacation" I've had, maybe ever. Where I just had 4 days of NOT thinking about my channel, which was nice, but then I think I blasted my brain trying to make up for lost time and get back into the mindset of "the gamer." It's caused me to overthink(underthink?) a lot of this one. I've become really unsure of it's vibe and so much of what I wrote/recorded just seems like the unfocused ramblings of a madman. At one point I whisper a creepy rendition of "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire," set to a jank instrumental for no real reason other then the me editing at 2am with no brain power thought it was funny. I think I might keep that just because I'm baffled that I made it with hardly any memory of it.

Right now I have about an hour edited and I'm thinking it will come out to something like an hour and 20mins or so. I think I could finish it relatively quickly, but I'm sort of taking my time with it because I want to be fun, and I wanna pack it full of all the experiences I had. It contains a bunch of dry history stuff that, while I do think it is important, It's just a tough thing to juggle with haha heehee stuff. I've also been trying to collect resources and research stuff for the Messiah video when I can't think about this game any longer. Which, I'm excited about mostly because I've just been stuck in Fallout world for so long, literally dreaming about this shit.

Won't be too long now, promise! (Also, I'll get back to GRIMB uploads soon it's just that this video requires like 500GB of footage just constantly at the ready, so my pc can only really handle the one instance of vegas). Hope you're doing well and if not, just remember that spooky month is around the corner! <3

What is to come.

Howdy there GGN,
Just wanted to let you know TWO things.
Thing the first, I have spent a lot of time revisiting a game that meant a lot to me, but is not very great and my feelings about it have driven me to want to commit to it as the next main review vid. So, I'm just going to tell you so I can't back out of it. It's Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Which, I believe will be my first foray into tactical-type games( I was just reminded that I made a video about Gorky 17, so nevermind), but I think it will result in a neat video.

The other thing is that I have a poll up on the discord in the patron channel, if you'd like to vote for a category of game that I'll cover after the Fallout vid. So, i'll leave that up for a day or two or just until there is an obvious winner. Thanks for your time and for your support and for all the helpful/encouraging/constructive responses to my last post about the names. It means a lot that you'd take time outta your day to help me figure out how to run a youtube channel that you'd think I'd know how to deal with by now :)

Hope you're staying safe, goth and gaming <3

New video, New thoughts.

Hey there GGN, I meant to put this up a little more quickly, but my internet went out as soon as I pressed publish so I'm doing it mobile style and this will probably have a bunch of errors. I hope ya like this salty little, less in depth video. Anyways, thanks so much for your support and for responding to my last post about the patron names. I think what I'm leaning towards is having it both ways a little bit so the top few tiers (Most Grim to Unfathomable Grimness or in the $10-$25 range) be read if they want, and the rest will appear as a scroll.

I was going to figure all that out now and change the info on the page, but I guess I gotta wait for the internet to come back. So, in case you joined at a lower tier in hopes that I'd read your name I'm truly sorry and would understand if ya backed out of being a patron. I do think this will mostly be a positive change. Like there will be less disappointment with the runtime cutting down a now 12 to 13 minute segment considerably and also I'll save a bunch of time on a part of the video that can literally consume a day or two and can use that to improve the rest of it.

Thanks again so much if you ever supported me at all. Like, I'm sure I say it a lot, but I'm always amazed by it.

Mer de Noms

Howdy there GGN,
I just wanted to,
Firstly: Thank you so much for your support.

Secondly: Let you know that the next review vid is about an obscure Korean-only released survival horror game called Mystic Nights for the PS2 and it is almost done. If all goes well it should be up in the next day or so. It came out to just about an hour (not including the patron credits) and I guess that segues into...

Thirdly: I wanted to gauge your thoughts on what has been a thing I've thought about more and more with each video. At a certain point, I believe as soon as I quit my day job and started depending on my channel to keep me afloat, I started reading the names of every patron except for the ones marked as "no-tier".  I did this mostly because I feel so indebted to everyone that supports me. I remember planning to only do it for a while, but when I started to think about stopping it...I guess it felt disrespectful or something. Like, it's the least I could do since I don't have time/resources to proffer up any other kind of reward other than, ya know, I can make content for ya'll faster now. After recording the patrons for this last video I found a few that suggest I remove this part of the video and I don't entirely want to, but I can understand it not being something everyone wants to sit through and maybe it would mess up the flow of like a playlist of stuff you just watch while relaxing/sleeping.

I guess my question is, should I reduce it somehow? Maybe only read the names of the first few tiers and then have a screen with the rest of the tiers? I'll leave it for this last one since, I'm sure people didn't anticipate me pulling the plug on that, but I do worry that it could be a bother/disappointment, like you see a vid with a certain runtime only to notice that much of the end is me reading names. I just, really appreciate anyone that supports me at any tier, ya know? Anyways, lemme know what ya think because I've been pondering this for a while now. <3

How does one recover from Planescape?

Howdy there GGN,
Just wanted to let you know what I've been up to after the last main video. The last video really depleted my mana. So, aside from checking out some demos for grimpression videos, I've been writing for the next proper review video, which the script is already almost done for. It won't be nearly as long, I'm aiming at something closer to 35-40mins. And just as a break from using my brain too much I wanted to play a kind of dumb Resident Evil clone type game. From what I can tell it seems pretty obscure so hopefully it will be completely new to many of you and I'll get that sweet sweet internet video game clout for covering it. The wait for that one shouldn't be too long though since i'm already through the hardest parts for me.

Of course all my other projects like music and what not are chipped at here and there. If you're interested in how that process is going, i'm just being extra picky about it because I tend to rush music stuff  and I wanna see how something turns out if I genuinely sit on it and meditate for a while before releasing, but I got a handful of tracks (that you've probably heard snippets of at the end of my latest  videos) and it would be cool to put em out as an "album" and do something neat for em, maybe try to get em on Spotify or something, make another little ad video for it or something.

Anywho, thanks so much for your support and allowing me to think about this kind of stuff. Hope you're doing well <3

Final Journal Update

Well, here it is GGN.
This has been the most frustrating and weird video i've ever made and even up until I pressed publish I was doubting it every way, but I hope some of you like it. Also, if you haven't played the game yet, I recommend checking it out. SPOILER ALERT, It's good!
Okay, i'm gonna go into a bday coma. Thank you so much for allowing me to make something so absurdly self-indulgent <3

Updated my journal

Hey there GGN, I just felt like I should keep ya'll updated about progress if you were interested. The Torment video is well into editing and I want to say this process will go quickly because it's my favorite part and it usually flies by, but it's a lot of content, full of tangents and it is one of those videos where I am making a conscious decision to be a bit more particular about it because it's an important one to me. If the editing stays on this track and I don't wind up cutting a bunch of bits that don't work, it's looking to end up around a little over 2hrs. So, I'm sorry if the content train is a little bit at a standstill for the moment. I'm hoping it will be worth the wait and if you haven't played Torment, you have the time to check it out in case that is your excuse for avoiding the video hehe

A side effect of this process is that uh, Grimb has had to slow the uploading process of the DS videos because he needs to edit and render them all a bunch of times to appease youtube and I don't think his PC/jank editing software can handle rendering DS vids while editing a big review video. So it's still a thing being worked on, just trying to juggle the plates of it all.

Side note, I made the mistake of mentioning a bunch of other cRPGs in the opening part and needing to record footage for them. So I installed a bunch and played them each for like 20mins, which made me want to replay all of them, it's unlocked the cRPG head in me once again. I miss crusty little dudes running around on pre-rendered backgrounds. Sad that Arcanum never got the enhanced edition treatment, but I suppose you can achieve a similar result with mods.

Anyway, hope you're doing well and as always thank you so much for allowing me to do any of this stuff. Hope you're staying goth-gaming or at least one of the two. <3

The content machine chugs along.

Hey there, GGN.

Firstly, thanks so much for your support as always. It means everything to me and I don't know what i'd do without ya. Well, probably this, I just wouldn't eat as well hehe. Secondly, thanks so much to anyone who commented on the last post. It means a lot that so many enjoyed DS. At the moment, all those vids are off my channel and uh...some guy named GRIMB, as begun uploading them on a new channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBR414APyIeF4VqYn8XwRLw/featured)
As of now there are only 5 of them up because of usual Youtube nonsense. Uploading them will be a bit slow, but I'm glad they have a home somewhere. Who knows maybe it could take on a life of it's own. While I have that process goin on in the background i've been writing the Planescape video which has already exceeded 17 pages and I feel like I'm only a third or so done.  I'm gonna do my best to make it a banger tho.

I think if the DS vids are still slowly resurfacing I might just work on something else in between. Maybe jump straight into another proper review vid, or sprinkle some Grimpressions in between. I'm not gonna let it slow me down that's for darn sure! THIS CONTENT MACHINE WILL NEVER DIE UNTIL IT DIES WHICH IT CAN'T UNLESS IT DOES. Anyway, just felt like give you a less doom and gloomy update and once again thank you for all you've done for me.  <3

Just a little update

Hey there, GGN.
I'm deep in the content mines working on my video for Torment and I'm really excited to see it through. Also I've had a personal personal project in the works for a while now that's like an animatic horror story thing that I'm working up the nerve to commit to posting when it's done and it's really dumb, but I put a lot of work into it. Also, getting back into shorter content with Grimpressions has been real refreshing. I sorta just wanted to give you an idea for where my heads been at the last couple days.

So, essentially I'm a little frustrated with Darkened Steams. I know only like a 5th of my viewers watch them and that's fine because I have a lot of fun making them and rambling about X-Fi-I mean Supernatural. Ordinarily I can do them really quick. In fact, the night I uploaded the last one, I was already pretty much done with the next. I've been having a lot of trouble getting them uploaded without being flagged for copyright though. This has happened for a few of them at random points sometimes weeks later and doesn't seem to have adversely effected my channel as they are not monetized, but at least with this latest one, it's like no matter how much I chop it up, invert things, zoom in on them, freeze frame, you name it. It always flags it immediately for something as small as a 4 second clip or sometimes even just a freeze-frame and it sorta feels like the hammer starting to come down on it. As much as I like doing them, I don't want them to wind up screwing over my channel should CW send it's death squad after me for....advertising their show.  My channel is so important to my existence and if it went down because of the CW I would just (play Minecraft forever)

It's almost 2am and in between writing for the bigger video, I've just been rendering it with  slight changes and then uploading to no avail, and it's making me think that it might not be the most viable format, could probably come back to bite me in the ass and maybe if I focused on more Grimpressions or broke up bigger reviews with smaller ones (about shorter games/walking sims/etc) or something that it would be less of a headache.  I'm at a place where they're not shutting me down, but it feels like maybe i'd be better off replacing it with something else for a while or retooling how they work.  I don't know, i'm open to hearing your thoughts though. I'm gonna sleep on it for now.

Have a good night, gothgamers
and as always thank you for your support <3

UPDATE: Thanks so much for you kind and encouraging words. At the moment I think I'm leaning towards migrating DS content to a second channel.  So in case I follow through with that uh, keep an eye out here:

Area 51 video is up!

Howdy there GGN,
Just wanted to let ya know that the Planescape Torment video that won the poll is underway (rip Bugsnax), and I originally meant to throw out this Area 51 video as a shorter deal that wouldn't consume much of my time, but it wound up being an hour long thing because I kept adding bits to it, but hopefully you enjoy it and I'm assuming the next one will be a big boy as well so wish me luck <3

Stay safe and goth and gaming

Max Payne review

Howdy GGN,
My incredibly self-indulgent Max Payne video is finally up, just wanted to apologize for lagging so much on it. This was probably the messiest production of any video I've made. I kinda overconfidently leapt into the project and wound up writing pretty much double what wound up in the video, but then I started hacking bits out of it and rearranging shit and I really got in my head about the whole dang thing. Then after I was somewhat pleased with the result, Youtube and my editing software kept creating visual glitches that were a nightmare to iron out. Anyway, I say all this to beg your forgiveness if it turns out to not be one of my best even though I took like a dang month on it. I'll probably tackle something smaller next that i'm more certain I could get out in a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks for your support as always <3

Parasite Eve

Hey there GGN,
Apologies for taking a little extra time on this one. At least I think I did? I don't know, time is weird. I had quite a few technical issues and some stuff I had to re-edit last minute thanks to a copyright claim. Anyways, here is the review and thanks so much for your support and also  a bunch if you voted in the poll that led to this one. I got a bunch of ideas I wanna get to so hopefully I won't have as long a break in between videos for a bit. Anyways, hope you're doing well and thanks again for all you do! <3

Manhunt 2 video

Hey GGN,
I just finished this video about the gross dirty game Manhunt 2 and I hope you like it! Sorry if it's unpleasant to look at tho, I'll try to play something more chill this time around :)
This is the weird sobering part for me, where I actually have to post the thing I've been tinkering away on, I'm probably just sick of watching it, but I hope you enjoy it. I don't know why this turned into like a diary entry. As always my mindset when making a video is, "the next one is gonna be better" so, that's what I'm focusing on and the content train shall chug a long. Hope you're all doing well and staying safe and as always I'm profoundly grateful for all your support <3
