Fast New Years Update (I'm NOT moving to Ko-Fi!)
Added 2022-01-07 10:45:20 +0000 UTCPatrons, non-patrons, and people who have clicked on this entirely by mistake,
Hello. 2022 is off to a good start isn't it?
I am hard at work on the very sudden new modpack I'm having to build, but covid is proving to be a bit of a pain in the arse and I have a bit of fever today, so it's slower than anticipated.
But, this is a very fast update post to say that I have plans for a full 2022 update video, which is going over some pretty massive changes to the Patreon itself (names lists, in-game names etc), along with changes to the main channel and content, and more Patreon feedback going forward.
The important thing I want to get out of the way in this post is very, very simple:
I will NOT be moving over to Ko-Fi, or any other platform. Patreon is here to stay.
A lot of people have been asking about it as I discussed the problems with the platform mid-2021, and my plans to move over in 2022, but there are a few reasons why I've decided against it:
- Patreon have solved some (but not all) of my complaints.
- It's inconvenient for everyone to move platform as I'm well established here.
- Cancelling a pledge on Ko-Fi is very very difficult compared to Patreon. I believe it should be as simple to cancel as it is to sign up, and this just currently is not the case with Ko-Fi.
- Patreon are adding a dedicated video upload feature. Where as before I had to upload to Vimeo (which costs a lot of money) or link unlisted Youtube videos, Patreon are adding a dedicated video hosting server. This means that if anything, at all, ever happens to Youtube or the main channel (copystrike strikes, claims, hacking, etc) I have a very convenient back up platform.
Big actual video update coming as soon as I find 5 minutes to make it with, I have everything planned out, but if anyone has any questions you want to throw me regarding the channel, patreon, 2022 plans etc, leave them down below and I can add an extra section to the upcoming video!
As always, thank you for your continued support. I have big plans this year, and aim to shake things up quite a bit, so stay tuned.
