TROA) The Pit Part 1

I couldn’t help but smile seeing the girls so excited over something cold. “There is more back at the base. Not only will you not suffer from the heat, but you will be protected from anyone trying to harm you. I will let you two live on my family side of the base so that way, the only boys around are my father and the kids I first rescued a while back.”

“We don’t need to be near guys?” One of the girls asked. I could hear the fear in her voice. I guess after these two friends lost their lives like they did, they now had a fear of men and lost their trust in people altogether.

“No. My father is a man of few words and probably will not even look at you two. My mother, on the other hand, would kill him if he dared to lay his hands on another woman, so you do not need to worry.” I replied. “Until you get used to things, you can hang out in your rooms. The bathrooms are all shared, though, but there is one for just the kids, which you can share with them. But no fighting. If I hear one incident where the kids have been harmed in any way, I will toss you out of the base. In my base, my word is law, and I am not afraid of killing anyone.”

I watched as the two stepped back in fear. I did not wish to scare them, but they had to understand that this was how things were. “As long as you do not break the few rules we have, you will be fine.”

“We will go.” The girl who took the bottle from me stepped forward. “To be able to take things from thin air means you are not normal, right? You can keep us safe from not only bad people but also the aliens?” 

“Yes. This is why I built the base I am currently living in.” I replied honestly.

“Then we will go. If we stay here, we will die soon anyway. We do not wish to be caught by any bad people who will force us to do things either, so I would rather risk trusting you than being stuck in this place.” The girl had tears in her eyes. Her hands were trembling.

“My name is Ai. You will be under my care from now on.” I reached out and gently wiped the tear that was rolling down the girl’s face.

“My name is Erica, and this is Gina.” Erica introduced herself.

“Then Erica, Gina, let’s gather the supplies you have gotten, and we will head out.” I turned and opened a portal behind me. “This is a portal to the base. It is how I got to the city since the base is a ways away from here.” 

“I feel like I am dreaming….” Gina mumbled. She still did not seem to trust me at all.

“It may seem like a dream, but it is reality,” I replied as I walked over and grabbed the things on the ground. They did not have much. I also did not plan to take any of this from them. They could keep all their belongings.

When everything was gathered, I had the two girls pass through the portal before passing through it myself. When I stepped out of it and stood in the teleportation room on my side of the base, a young girl stood at the entrance and smiled at me. “Big Sister!”

The little girl ran over and hugged my waist. This was one of the little girls I saved earlier from Amanda. Her name was Michell. She had taken quite a liking to me. “What are you doing over this side of the house, hmm?”

“Hehe! We are playing hide and seek with Big Sister, Jen.” Michell giggled as I tickled her armpits.

“Then you better hide well. Jen is good at hide and seek.” I replied. I patted her head before looking at Erica and Gina. “As you can see, this part of the base is quite safe.”

“Thank you….” Gina suddenly collapsed to her knees and began crying. Michell walked over and patted her shoulder. “Don’t cry. Big Sister Ai is amazing. She gets rid of the bad people.”

Gina looked at the little girl’s serious face and began laughing. “I guess so.”

“Alright, Erica, Gina, I will bring you to your rooms. You are lucky since we still have two rooms free.” I helped Gina up, who finally did not seem afraid of me anymore, and led the two newcomers toward the spare rooms we had.

My father just happened to be in the living area when we walked by, causing Gina to flinch. But he only looked over for a second, nodded, and then turned back around to watch the drone footage.

“Ai, you are back!” My mother came running into the room. “Ai, we saw something weird on the cameras just now. A train of people seemed to be trying to make their way towards a factory not far from here. But from the looks of it, they seemed to be tied up.” 

“Hmmm? A factory close to here…..” I thought for a moment before frowning. I did hear of such a thing before. It was called The Pit. The person running the show would capture survivors from old to young and pit them against each other.
