TROA) Searching For Survivors Part 1

I couldn’t argue with my mother. She was right about everything. “Okay, I will make sure I have a stock.” 

“Good, I will go to storage and get a bunch of sets. At least twenty of each for now. Just remember this first batch, you can not go more than four days away, of the people wearing them might end up dying.” My mother explained. I could only go about two days out, and that is it. If I went any further and had to bring people back, it would most likely take longer to return. So It was better to be safe than sorry. 

“Alright. I plan to head out in a few days, so take your time. I should spend some time with Jen since I will be gone for a few days.” I did not want Jen to think I was ignoring her. 

“Good. As the man in your relationship, you need to take responsibility for your wife.” My mother’s words kind of hurt. Was she saying I was not girly at all!? But what hurt the most was that I could not say she was wrong! 

I left feeling slightly dejected and walked into the bedroom where Jen was actually getting changed. It looked like she had just taken a shower. I walked over, wrapped my arms around her thin waist, and kissed the back of her neck. “How is my little cutie doing?”

“I am feeling much better after taking a shower.” Jen watched as my hand slipped under the hem of her panties. She leaned back against me and brought her hands to her side, holding my arms. 

“I guess we will need to take another one in a bit.” Then I slipped my hand all the way inside her panties. Jen’s soft moans filled my ears as I teased her. 

I really enjoyed teasing my little wife. We from from standing to the bed, and then two hours later, we took a shower. We put on long shorts and sat on the bed with Jen using my lap as a pillow. I ran my fingers through her hair and smiled, seeing her being so obedient. “I will be leaving in three days. During this time, we will spend all our time together.”

“Okay. But you have to be careful when you go out. I do not want to lose you.” Jen’s eyes were slightly wet. I leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Don’t worry. The current situation is not enough to hold me back. I will have two sets of clothing for myself. I only plan to go a max of two days away from here. I will be sending my drones out looking for any and all survivors. ” 

“Okay. I hope you can find more people. I do not wish for humanity to die out.” Jen hugged my waist and buried her face into my stomach. I could only sigh. I, too, did not wish for humanity to be wiped out. But I also did not wish for humanity to turn out like it did before: tools for the higher ups to use to try to figure out a way to save themselves.

That night, Jen and I made love a few times and a few more times each day until it was time for me to finally leave. After saying my goodbyes, I left the base but not through the front door. I did not want to risk being tracked back to this place, so I teleported myself to the food mart. I figured I would start with the city since it had the deepest basement.

The contacts I was wearing now had been upgraded to be able to detect the temperature of the area around me. This way, I could find cool spots. It would be these spots that I would be searching for people in. 

The food mart stunk quite badly now. The bodies all around were starting to rot. The smell was quite bad compared to before. But this was mainly due to the heat cooking them. I made my way to the entrance and looked around to see if I could spot any cool areas at first glance, but sadly, there was nothing. “I will check the underground parking then….”

I made my way downstairs and followed the signs to the parking garage. It was the second basement floor, which should be quite cool. At least bearable anyway. If any person was still alive, this would be the smart move. At night, when the temperature was lower, they could run to the underground garage and use the stairs to come to the food mart to get supplies. Water and what food that was still good.

It took ten minutes to get to where I was going since I was keeping an eye out for any movement. When I reached the second basement level, I could see the temperatures dip down into the eighties(26c). It did not take long to see a barrier erected in part of the parking garage. From what I could tell, there were at least ten people here. “Hello? If you have a weapon, please do not shoot.”

“Leave! We have no food for you!” A voice came from behind the barrier. I could see a young Black man standing there with a gun pointing at me. I could tell he was nervous.

“I will leave, but I must take you with me. You can not continue to stay here in this heat. If you are willing to trust me even a little, I can take you to a place where you can have proper shelter, running water, and cool air.”
