TROA)Leaving Her To Rot
Added 2023-09-01 06:51:12 +0000 UTCA hot summer day. The streets are filled with death and decay. In the middle of this street, stabbed into the ground, was a metal pole. Stied to this metal pole was Amanda, who was staring at Jen and I in horror. “You can’t do this! This world has laws!”
“Laws? Where were the laws when you were using little kids as slaves?” I do not know why she thinks she is so self important. She can do as she pleases, but once things happen to her, she thinks the laws will protect her. “Plus, the world has already ended. Look at the streets. Do you see cops? Do you see the military? No! They do not care about us. They only care about trying to stop the first wave.”
When I think about it, Amanda probably stayed in the city the entire time, in that food market, bossing those kids around when the second wave hit. Even if she survived the start of the second wave, when the tactical nukes fell, she would have been blasted away. Looks like she will have a different outcome this time around.
“Just let me go! I promise to never do that again!” I could see that Amanda was panicking. Too bad my ability to manipulate metal has allowed me to basically weld her hand to the pole I just jabbed into the ground. Using my earth manipulation skill, I even solidified the ground, so no one was going to be pulling that out any time soon.
“You should have thought about all that when you did all the bad things in the past. Now, you can only take it as it is. From this moment on, your life is in the hands of either the animals who might come to feast on you or if you starve to death.” I replied with a faint smile.
“Although I can tell you this.” I paused and poked her in the forehead. “If you want to end it all, just bite your tongue and bleed to death. It’s quite painless, you know.”
With this, I pulled Jen along with me as I walked away. I still wanted to take a look around more. I wanted to kill a few more spiders and try to hit level three. If I did, I could become even strong!
I kind of wish I could give Jen a system, but I do not see any way of doing that. I guess She will just need to rely on me to keep her safe. Of course, I had planned to do that from the start.
Amanda’s screams for help filled our ears and echoed through the city streets. I was hoping they would attract the spiders lingering in the area. I walked behind a bus and looked and used my drones to survey the area. “Two on the way here.”
“Do you need my help?” Jen asked.
“No. Can take them both out easily. Just watch my back. Kill anything that gets close to you.” I had one drone watching over Jen, myself, while the other watched her back. I did not need so much defense, so I was not worried about myself.
I gave Jen a Kiss on the lips before I dashed away. I felt much lighter than before as I quickly stepped in between cars and over dead bodies. I arrived behind a taxi and looked over to see a spider making its way towards me. I raised my gun and fired a shot. The beam of light pierced through the air and slammed into the spider’s head, taking it clean off. The spider fell to the ground.

I waited for the next spider bot to make its way over. Once more fired at it, killing it almost instantly.

[Level Up!]
[+5 Skill Points.]
[+5 to all stats]
Three spider bots to level up! Not bad.

The fact that I am getting five stat points per level is also quite good. With the low kill rate at the early levels, I should be strong enough to deal with the next wave by the time it happens. I just hope by then, I will not need to put up too much of a hard fight against the larger robots.
When I get home after this outing, I can finally take a look at my skills list. I want to look at it now, but I am resisting the urge. I need to take the time and plan out all my skills so I know what I should be aiming for. Spending all my points on useless skills is not good. I need to pick and choose and level up the ones I can as well. As long as I can do this, I can slowly build up a mastery in a small number of skills that are effective and useful. It would be nice if I could get some kind of healing skill. This way, I can always be sure Jen will be safe.
