The song dance between the female "messenger" and the King - you missed out a detail.... its the language..... the King sings in Tamil but the female "messenger" sings in Telugu. This is to taunt the king that he is not of pure Tamil blood. Ofcourse Cholas and Pandias are Tamil, but this was just to poke the king.

When I recommend this film to people I describe it as a Epic Swashbuckling Quest with music and dancing plus Ray Harryhausan style special effects. What's not to love? Rick might be the only one that knows who Harryhausan is by name. I am curious if he saw the similarity.

Just got done watching this movie for the very first time myself and yeah, I get what the hype is all about! From the get go you can obviously tell they were working with a very tight budget so the CGI throughout the film definitely wasn't up to par, but I personally didn't even really care. The super engaging storytelling really made up for it and I just loved how graphic everything was! I was honestly so connected to Karthi, Reema Sen, and Andrea Jeremiah's characters to the point where I got a little annoyed especially in the first half when it shifted to some other person. If this movie was just the three of them exploring caves all day while constantly arguing with each other I would have loved it the same. Outstanding work 👏

Aayirathil Oruvan and Pitamagan are in the top 10 greatest Tamil movies I ever saw.. Its time for you guys to see and appreciate 'A' and 'Upendra' (Kannada movies). I got the same feeling watching them as well..

The women bleeding from the breast is due to starvation and she doesn’t have the milk to feed her baby. So the king lets her cut the line and take her share of food!
Whereas, the men were killed for trying to get their share and for being greedy! The king’s justice is kind but also fatally just.
There are so many such things throughout the 2nd half which is not ‘explained’!

The bad cgi and the incomplete understanding of the nuances in the 2nd half were the problems when it was released back then!
I was one of the many who didn’t enjoy it then (coz I was too young then).
However, I do see the epicness of it now and appreciate the story through your eyes and perceptiveness!
