Progress on the TWD Video

Hey Patrons!

I got two things to talk about today. Firstly, you guys voted on the previous poll that you would like to see more free posts, that would update you on editing progress, show cat pictures, or whatever else I could randomly think about. I wanted to ask you all, what do you want to see these posts about?

This post is my attempt at seeing what you guys think of an editing progress update post 🤔 I suspect that I might not always have things to really talk about, since editing is often a very menial and drawn-out task, so it's not often that I can just pop in and say "Hey, look at THIS cool thing I did! :D" - because often, most videos are probably what you'd expect, and the most I can say is "I have made it this far, ETA XX/YY".

I would love to hear in the comments what you guys think I should maybe focus more on :) Maybe these kinds of updates just are actually interesting to you?

Nevertheless, let me update you on the current progress, and I guess myself too, for now :)

Editing has actually gone VERY well the past couple of days. I've felt motivated, and for some reason also generally happier, which really aids in my focus and just makes things fly by more often than they used to. I've found a new workflow that I think works really well for me: I divide the whole video up into minute-long blocks, and then tackle them one-by-one, with a goal of doing around 4 per day.

In the past, I have had days where things felt so much more like a tunnel without an end, losing focus easily and feeling drained, often getting frustrated at being stuck or so slow, and then only more stressed as a result, and it's led to days where I made so little progress, 3-week turnaround quickly became the norm. You've seen it.

In part, it was probably also because I wasn't in the best-best state mentally, and there had been struggles with finances, fears and anxieties about falling off or everything failing, only worsening perfectionism about videos.

But things have looked up recently.

I don't really know why it is, maybe it's that new workflow, maybe it's my hobbies and side projects panning out, or maybe I just flicked a switch and stopped worrying so much. In either case, ever since Springtrap, things have just been so much smoother. The new workflow is working WONDERS, and I consistently reach or even exceed the 4-min-per-day goal. In addition, I've also just been enjoying the new streaming schedule a lot :D

So what's the video's status?

Well, if you watched the stream, you'd know that I was frustrated about how every match ended with disconnecting xD

But I actually think I managed to turn it into something funny. We'll see how it looks when I properly edit there once I get that far, but I'm pretty happy with the video as it stands at least right now!

Overall, I have done 14 out of 31 blocks, putting progress at ~45%!

And this is only over 4 days! I did exceed my 4-block daily quota on some of those days which I might not always (especially on stream days!), and there's also thumbnailing, polish, and the bonus video for y'all to do, so don't take this as a prediction that the video will be out 5 days from now xD

I also have a potential sponsor for this video, which would help a lot with the finances, but nothing is confirmed so we'll just have to see how that goes! If this is the case, it might slow down the video a little bit further x)

Anyway, attached to this post is a little teaser clip! :D

I am pretty happy with the results, but essentially, it took A LOT of time to mask out that hole in the wall so that the text could be behind it throughout its animation xD Some of these types of details do take a lot of time, but they just add so much "depth" to the video, it kinda feels surreal, in a good way. It's stuff I wanna do more of, but usually reserve it for only the most iconic moments.
