Livestreams & Sneak peek: T-Code and Twist

Hi Guys,

Here's a sneak look at what I've been working on all month, and links to this month's livestreams.

I'm currently performing the final tests on a brand new version of the twist receiver, which is probably the most popular OSR2 upgrade out there at this point. I've gone to a lot of effort to replace the Parallax 360-degree feedback servo with something much more generic, and this is the result.

Through the use of an additional gear built into the housing I've been able to employ a generic servo, with a 1:1 gearing ratio between the servo and the main ring. The new mechanism works great, with significant improvements in speed and noise.

I plan to release this new design in the first week of March. In the meantime, you can check out my livestream from 7th Feb in which we went through the history of the twist mechanism. Also check out my second livestream, in which I spend time going over the T-Code protocol and the Arduino code that drives the OSR2. The new twist prototype also makes an appearance.

If you're reading this you have access to my discord server and these livestreams as they happen, so do join us on there if you haven't already.

In this livestream I gave a show-and-tell history of my various versions of the twist mechanism. I went through the Arduino code that allows it to work with the Parallax servo, and I showcased Crimzzon's work creating a twist mechanism that uses a generic servo. I also changed a servo on my SR6.

Livestream from 21st Feb 2022

In this livestream I go over the TCode commands that are used to control OSR2/SR6. I also go through the Arduino firmware for OSR2 and explain what each section of the code does.
