Glad you're enjoying them! If we can clear some time we'll try to get better organized on the pods but I fear trying to track the topic would result in me pausing audio to jot things down too much.

Even though I've been a patron since Project Lightening, I only now started listening to Unloaded (missed them previously somehow). I'm looking forward to the new products - I'm all for a bit more humor (and it makes sense to have it separate from the main channel). You guys are fighting a big battle of producing high-quality product on the topic that the platform you use tries to suppress because - politics. Keep up the good work! I've paused the video and bumped up my patron level (not a lot, but what i can for now) when I heard "I've sold some of my favorites just to keep the show going..." Hope you go beyond "bills are paid" in 2020!!
PS: One thought - maybe include more links to things mentioned in the videos (channels/events/things) - maybe it's just me, but I still don't know what the other channel (Hong Kong video mentioned) "tough"..."mouse"... what? ;-)
PS2: loved hearing about Steve Ramsey's video - when people I subscribe to mention other people I subscribe to, it validates my choices and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (no, i'm not a professional youtube watcher) :-D

Well Siam wasn't actually a neutral and had not only declared war on Germany but also sent over 1300 troops over who formed a mechanized transport unit that was tasked with delivering supplies to french units on the front from June or July 1918 to the armistice. After the armistice they also got the prestige of occupying Germany. They also sent over I think 400 soldiers to be an aviation wing bit I don't believe they finished training before the armistice. Now primarily the seemed to have been armed with some sort of old French rifle I just haven't found if they had brought some of there own rifles as well to the front. So the only use of the Siamese Mausers I can say for sure is the capturing of Germans and German shipping in Siam. Well if/when you decide to cover the Siamese Mausers I have an examples of a Type 45, Type 46, and technically a Type 47 (though the ones I have are 1930 production and in the the modernized Type 66 cartridge however there are no known Type 47s in the original Type 45 cartridge) I also have contact with the guy that wrote the only book on them.

Thanks for doing these audio extras, I like to listen to podcasts/spoken-word videos while I'm at work, somewhere that I can't watch Primer. Definitely looking forward to more of this sort of thing, I know you guys are stretched thin, but I'm always interested in Q&A and other "podcast-like" content to supplement Primer.

Describing "chasing the youtube algorithm" like gambling is pretty spot on.
There's at least one youtube channel I used to watch who fit that description of burning out to the letter. Shame, they used to be great, before they became too concerned with the algorithm, or perhaps just got sick of youtube. They(It's Brutalmoose btw) just began shotgunning all sorts of videos, throwing everything against the wall to see what stuck, and as a result, they just lost focus, and I lost interest.

Great episode as always. It's nice to hear how YouTube works...or rather doesn't from the people who have to deal with it. I'm excited for the hats and patches. I don't really have many patches, but being able to combine them with a snazzy hat will make buying em worthwhile. Also, i' m so excited for the shotgun series, along with the neutral guns. The obscure gun Primer episodes are my favorite because I learn the most from them. Considering I know zero about sporting shotguns beyond Mossberg 500s, Remington 870s, and the few military issued ones, every episode will be eye opening. I'm also glad you're spacing them out in short, visual oriented episodes. I enjoyed the blast of content from Lightening, but I could tell that you guys blitzed it all in the limited time you and Ian were in the same place. Being able to space it out would have been less stressful and probably would have resulted in a more in depth comparison between the guns. Pity the NFA ruins everything. No such limitations with old scatter guns.

I really think a collab w/ Ian where you mine the best of both your shows & splice'em up with color commentary from the both of you [Siskel & Ebert, anyone?] on a particular firearm and then release it to Amazon or sell it to the History Channel [is that still a thing?] or something, much like Ian did to distribute his back library on Amazon Prime [which, regrettably, *really* show their age in that sliced&diced&julliene-fried hodge-podge his friend? associate? put together to make them suitable for A-zon, due to the drastic change in quality as his show evolved] has some potential. Just spit-ballin' here, hoping that both of you can make a few $ out of the old media since TheirTube [as the epitome of New Media] has become so discriminatory...

So are you planing on including The Siamese Mausers? I am not sure what you qualify as being used for your inclusion in primer, as I don't believe they brought any of them to the front (at least from what it sounds like from the one book I have on the subject). However when they declared war on Germany the Siamese military round up the German citizens in Siam as well as captured 9 (I believe I'd ave to check the number again) German merchant ships, which they would have been carrying Type 45's/Type 46's (they are actually two slightly different models despite most people thinking they are all type 46's) and possibly the Type 47's carbines.

I have really mixed feelings on "the books are *painful*". I completely get that the reference-grade books tend to be pushing 3 figures really hard. More if its out of print and you want a decent copy. That said, I find it way easier to drop $160 on an autographed copy of Brophy's 1903 book, than $600 on a median priced '03. I'm book first, gun after I understand.

Othais decides to release patches.
Expectation - order 500 or so, have two types on sale at same time, replace as they sell out.
Reality - batches sold in first hour or so, people keeping watch to snipe new batch as soon as it is released, otherwise you're out of luck

I hope Primer stays available for the foreseeable future. Occasionally, In the past, I'd buy an old military rifle at a gun show that I could find no way how to disassemble the bolt. Once your Mauser episodes came online I dug out an old 1897 and had the bolt apart in less than 10 minutes.

As far as merch goes cartuches from Lightning on a tee or polo a bit like Ian has here might sell https://shop.bbtv.com/collections/forgotten-weapons/products/gun-jesus-polo next day delivery in Europe may make a few bucks. Unless it's a gross error, I suggest you wait until views taper off before you re-upload the correction so you don't have to worry about trying to re-monetize. Perhaps ... you could pre-release as a private video to a select few to "proof" before making public? The YouTuber life cycle is very similar to that of Podcasters.
