and this one got a quick snip to knock out a smidge of bad ammo history.

Seriously, I can see DARPA spending a few hundred $K on this project; this is not a trivial undertaking! Yes, the computer does all the calcs for you, but GIGO: there's a lot of man-hours getting the modeling right before you can spend machine time running the numbers... ;-)

... this is above my pay grade.

Thanks for every episode, well done. By coincidence, last week a Mauser 1903 took shelter at my house. Bayonets! There is a non destructive way to test both types of bayonet logs. It is an engineering materials tool called finite element analysis. Make a drawing in 3D (you already have the guy) of the bayonet lug, barrel and bands and of the bayonet for each type of system. On the computer you can simulate different torques and forces up to failure point. You can also have how much the harmonics change etc. Just ask who from the subscribers can do the analysis. Then we can have an answer for the biggest question of all times: which is the best bayonet log type.

Excellent work as always. Very much enjoy exploring the myriad variations on the theme of Paul Mauser's plus. At the conclusion of each episode I see the names of your crew briefly displayed. I would really appreciate hearing those names (properly) pronounced as I suspect my guesstimations are fairly far afield.

The triple threat. Do... do you sleep or just slip into a restorative meditative trance sometimes while researching? But seriously, thanks for bombarding us with all this content.
