Weakerthans are a great part of the Propagandhiverse. There is some great bass playing there, particularly on Reunion Tour, eg Night Windows. But the reactions are often about songwriting as much as bass, because a lot of punk rock is not bass forward. Hopefully, he enjoys this quite simple pop song from the Weakerthans.

I get preferring pre-Rollins Black Flag, to be honest he's not my favorite vocalist or frontman in general but the songs he did with Flag are good and also they have an interesting experimental angle as they go on (e.g. Greg Ginn's atonality). I'm not sure if Mark has heard anything punk-wise quite like later Black Flag (say My War and onwards) on the channel so I think it should be interesting

Did not know about the lyrics being redone but always thought his singing was a little too good on that performance. ☺️ I assume you’re playing the video and not just the audio? Watching the performance is half the pleasure. 👏 Anyways hope you get better soon so we can listen to some music together. 🤘

Green Day primed me for NOFX that primed me for Propagandhi that primed me for A Wilhelm Scream that primed me for Black Flag and At the Drive In that primed me for Converge that primed me for Pig Destroyer and extreme death metal (The Red Chord, Psyopus, etc.) that primed me for noise, electro-grind and avantgarde jazz that primed me to chill the fuck out and listen acoustic folk with punk ethos. Still love all of it, though, depending on my mood. Punk is not phase, it's a spectrum.

2025-12-31 20:13:06 +0000 UTCNOFX at Red Rocks is amazing, and was one of the reasons I flew to Colorado a few weeks ago to see an event at the venue -- it's absolutely breathtaking and should be on everyone's bucket list. But one thing worth taking into consideration is that they re-recorded the vocals, which kind of took away a bit of the magic for me. Still, a performance I go back to every few weeks or so. "Did Bad Religion have a fucking bassoon?" Also stoked for Lagwagon "Choke"! Underrated track.
