[Full Album] RISE AGAINST | "Revolutions Per Minute"

I went into Revolutions Per Minute expecting a pretty solid punk record, but I didn’t expect it to win me over as much as it did. It honestly took a few tracks, but by the end, I could not stop playing along. I simply couldn't resist. The riffs are memorable, predictable, and satisfying in all the right ways, which made this one of the most enjoyable album reviews I’ve done so far on that front.

Joe Principe’s bass work is just downright fun and stimulating to listen to. Even after hearing only a few tracks, I knew I liked his style, but this album showed me that even when he "hugs" the root notes, he still leads and commands the direction of the songs. At times, it feels like the bass parts were written before anything else was.

However, the pacing is what truly sets this record apart. It’s fast and heavy, but never too fast or too heavy for too long. Harsh and clean vocals trade off seamlessly, and the mid-tempo grooves make the whole thing incredibly digestible. Nothing overstays its welcome, but at the same time, everything feels familiar and cohesive.

Siren Song of the Counter Culture has lost in three past Patreon polls so far, but maybe this was the album I needed to hear first. I can't fully put my finger on it...but I just loved how this album made me feel.
