Rancid's "Maxwell Murder" is what kicked off my wave of punk videos on YouTube, and I've been meaning to circle back and spin the full record. Their first three albums became the soundtrack of my youth. It was really fun to see someone’s reaction to hearing it for the first time (especially someone with such a different musical upbringing) and enjoy it so much. I highly recommend checking out their entire catalog. Their first album is so visceral that it’s beautiful.

2024-08-31 11:59:04 +0000 UTCSo on Time Bomb before he formed Rancid Time Armstrong was in band called Operation Ivy that leaned more heavily in that ska punk sound that would blow up in the 90s with bands like No Doubt and of course Sublime. If you aren't familiar with Sublime I would strongly suggest looking into them. Their basest Eric Wilson has one of the best dub bass sounds.
