[Full Album] RANCID | "...And Out Come The Wolves"

My first full-album reaction, Episode #1! Rancid's "Maxwell Murder" is what kicked off my wave of punk videos on YouTube, and I've been meaning to circle back and spin the full record. Hearing an 85-second track wasn't enough to really understand Rancid, and this full-album listen quickly brought me up to speed. Get comfy, and let's do this!

Mark should build a Rancid cover band

Your appreciation and watching you “get it” with this punk rock stuff makes me so happy.

Finally here, this album is one of my all time favourites. My first daughter is named Ruby, not just for the song, but it was a pretty big influence.

What a treat! Takes me back to my teenage when this came out, good times😂 many thanks for this awesome album

Will

I absolutely think you should now go straight to the new album Tomorrow Never Comes for a good look at what theyve done recently. I was really stoked to give that a full listen and now, as a new patreon member, think you would be stoked on how they still crush it.

Mark L

cool reaction vid. i can tell you had a good time.

Pieter Wessels

disorder and disarray intro kinda sounds like green day (also an east bay band)

Awesome stuff man. I was 16 when this album came out. Saw them in a bar with 400 sweaty punks and instantly fell in love. Their first three albums became the soundtrack of my youth. It was really fun to see someone’s reaction to hearing it for the first time (especially someone with such a different musical upbringing) and enjoy it so much. I highly recommend checking out their entire catalog. Their first album is so visceral that it’s beautiful.

This album would be so much better if they trimmed the fat.

Brad Clarke

East bay = Oakland , CA

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I believe the phrase "out come the wolves" is in reference to major labels looking to sign punk bands at the time.

So on Time Bomb before he formed Rancid Time Armstrong was in band called Operation Ivy that leaned more heavily in that ska punk sound that would blow up in the 90s with bands like No Doubt and of course Sublime. If you aren't familiar with Sublime I would strongly suggest looking into them. Their basest Eric Wilson has one of the best dub bass sounds.

Ian

You ended up picking Old Friend, but I thought it was interesting that the next two on your list were Ruby Soho and Time Bomb, which were the first two singles from the album that had videos on MTV and got the most radio play.
