Roasting my Patreon member's mix! 😮 [DNB, video]
Added 2025-02-07 09:39:25 +0000 UTCI was asked to "roast" the mix of a songs by one of my patrons, so hey, I'm up for that!
Going thru what I'd change in the mix in my DAW.
I do this type of feedback every week.
I hope you'll get something out of this; listen to this in a decent environment.
I usually do this for Tier 2 members (I do plenty of feedback outside Patreon too).

Yes for sure. Mids first, then sides. In my daily mixing, there’s sounds all the time that are nice and wide but lacking in mids power.

2025-02-07 11:34:36 +0000 UTCI rarely do stereo nudges – I do either mid or side. I constantly listen to both. But I’m a massively picky nerd who does audio for his living 🎚️👌🏻😋

2025-02-07 11:33:47 +0000 UTCI notice you always run mid eq cuts / boosts - I know for items where you want to keep depth you usually stick with mid cuts (ex: a dynamic EQ on a synth side chained to the vocal - you go to mid to some of the power to make room for vocal but keeps the wideness of the synth). Do you really not use stereo cuts that often, or was that just how it went in this video?
