Thank you History Buffs

Hey History Buffs,

It’s Nick Hodges here. Believe it or not, today marks the 10th anniversary of the channel! On July 4th, 2015, I uploaded my first ever review: Zulu. A childhood favourite of mine and my late father’s. It’s fitting that particular movie ended up having such a lasting impact on my life and career. The idea for History Buffs had been rattling around in my head for years before 2015. I talked about it ad nauseam to friends and family until one day, I finally decided to give it a go and see where it led. Ten years later... here we are.

Looking back over a decade of work, it’s surreal to see how much the channel has evolved. From early videos recorded in a bedroom with a basic mic… to the full-length deep dives we make today. And yet, despite the changes in format and style, one thing has always stayed the same has been you; the community. You’ve patiently waited between episodes, sometimes for months at a time, and yet you always came back when I was ready with the next one. Most YouTubers aren’t so lucky to have such a supportive audience.

I also want to give a big thank you to the amazing team I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years from our editors, Luke and Orkun, to our writers, Bernard and Kelli (who also hosts the excellent podcast called A Popular History of Unpopular Things, go say hello in the comments!). And lastly, to my incredible wife, whose support and hard work behind the scenes have been instrumental every step of the way. Here’s to the next chapter.

PS Yes, I know Napoleon is behind me.

Thank you History Buffs

I’ve thought about doing Straight Out of Compton like I did with Bohemian Rhapsody. I like N.W.A and would find it interesting.

I subbed just to ask if you'd consider making a video on "straight outta Compton" totally understand if that's not something that interests you
