2023-04-23 22:43:11 +0000 UTCIt’s been two days since I saw the preview and my jaw is still slack. And my emotions after reading the actual episode are everywhere! So firstly, Louise. Hot damn woman, you have been through some stuff. The understatement of the century. And I was so glad we went straight into Poppy taking care of her. Louise has fire and I like that! Part of me wanted to shove Tora out after he unintentionally interrupted Poppy reminding Louise who she is, but I quickly realised as the episode went on that…well shit is about to get real complicated. “Shh, he can hear us. He just pretends not to.” Haha, the things I’m sure the man wishes he didn’t hear in his line of work. Or when he’s with Quincess. Oh Louise asked what we’ve all wanted to know! ARE you dating, Poppy? We all want to know. And your stuttered not wasn’t highly convincing. Though I wish we’d seen Tora’s reaction to that question. And I really like Louise’s characterisation during this episode. Deflecting to lighter topics to stave off the impending aftermath of what went on. The calm on the surface way she had about her at first. I was on edge waiting for her to go off like a ticking time bomb. I didn’t have to wait long, but I was very much held in suspense while I waited. Just Poppy mentioning the cops coming with the paramedics made me anxious. I was so relieved Tora didn’t try and do this on the sly, going through the proper channels. Though I worry how that’s going to come back to Vincent… Speaking of, how long until Vincent makes an appearance? Until Tora is called back for a job, or info on where the notebook is? Though it’s been what, 1 or 2 days since Poppy saw him on TV? I’m aware I’m getting fully into this plot line and that there’s a monster or two lurking in the shadows and I don’t want to have a jump scare when they make an appearance again. “Keep it down, I’m trying to leave peacefully.” Well if that isn’t a mood I don’t know what is, ha! *Stressed about work* Tora and his dark eyes - gulp! And I come back to Vincent and his muppets. Ugh the worry I feel! And then BOOM! The penny drops and the bomb has just gone off. I am relieved it’s not going to be dragged out about Louise seeing the crest on his neck, but I still hurt for Tora AND Louise at that moment. What a trigger for her, and her reactions throughout this, as spot on as I could imagine they would be with all she’s been and going through. “Don’t fucking tell me to calm down!” Took a line straight out of my life. Poor Poppy trying to do damage control for everyone, where’s the rule book for how to deal with this shit? The fact Tora took what Louise - rightfully as she has zero idea of who he is and how he’s fighting against that damn brand on his neck - was dishing out silently and then broke that when she went in on Poppy, bloody hell! The sheer power behind his words felt like he shouted, which just made it more powerful. But I felt so bad for her, for them all, it’s just a shit show that the fucker chin hairs has created and the ripples of it just keep on going. The fact Louise said sorry…woman, she almost had me in tears. It was overwhelming watching her react and break like that. And the regret on Tora’s face almost made me break. Regret for how he just reacted? For not catching chin hairs before Louise got in trouble? (Not that he could have known of course!) Regret for the constant crap that comes with being affiliated with the mafia. I mean damn, the list must be extensive. But that’s the most emotive I’ve seen him for a while and it was a lot! Then seeing him turn from them, looking like he’s about to have a breakdown himself, I can’t even imagine how his thoughts are racing. Oh God, I knew as soon as Poppy said her proper name poor Louise was about to lose her shit again, for good reason. “We need to rest. Haven’t got any since fuckin’ yesterday.” “...prick.” Pft pft, haha! Yes, the woman has fire and I love to see it! I don’t want to get my hopes up she’ll help them take down chin hairs, but it’s definitely there. How much must he be dying for a cigarette? Also, on the first read I wondered why he suddenly seemed surprised with his hand in his pocket, but now I’ve re-read it the penny has just dropped for me (don’t judge, I'm running on fumes this weekend). I presume that was a slight turning point in his attitude to Louise when he remembered he had the little dino. “I might be a prick, but I still hope ya little one’s doin’ okay.” That was…very…delicate of you, Tora. It’s definitely the best she’s going to get from him, bless him. But also says a lot if you get past the gruff attitude. Ahhh shit, no time to debrief Louise and get the story straight! How is this going to go? I’m not a nail biter but you make me close to becoming one, Lily! “Take their statements. ‘Specially the tall one.” Awesome. Cool. I wonder if there’s any people - besides Poppy and Gyu - who don’t judge him on first sight. Either way it’s going to be a long week waiting to see what happens next and I sometimes wish I could find the strength to not read this as soon as it drops. But I guess that’ll never happen. OK, it’s arrived. The part of the episode I am still shocked by. Lily’s out here absolutely crushing some fan theories that have flown around. Obliterated them with a snap of her fingers. Well played, Lily. Very well played!! So, Tora is the ‘little bitch’ and Vincent is ‘daddy’ I presume? I’ve reread that part many times and it’s finally clicked, I’m embarrassed to admit. Like I said, running on fumes over here. “If he does, he’ll put both her and himself at risk, don’t you think?” So Scharch isn’t too dumb to realise Tora has his own side hustles (yes, I still hope he’s finding a way out of his life somehow) and ISN’T Vincent’s little bitch then? Also, I wonder if Martin knows what extra shady shit Scharch is up to. Vincent at least doesn’t trust him…not that I would have anyone around me if I was him… And I’m falling down a rabbit hole of thoughts with all these tightly woven characters and plots, as I normally do. But seriously, just reading them conspiring together gives me major creeps. They’ve both been right up with the super creepy factor from the very beginning. But seeing them grinning at each other like that just makes my skin crawl. And poor Louise had to hear all kinds of terrible stuff. To say she is going to need some intensive support and therapy would be another massive understatement. Poppy and Tora are going to be getting more information than they bargained for if and when they get to talk to Louise properly… And Seazar has come up with the best ship name as I refuse to use his real name…so behold! - Scharchin is now a thing! Between us anyway, haha! And writing this all out has helped me get past my shock at this plot twist. I need to steel myself if there's more twists coming to unhinge my jaw like that one did. Kudos Lily, all the kudos!
