April & May 2023 Channel Update – This Is Fine

I hope you’re doing good! This is going to be an abnormal update: I am Trying My Best to figure everything out but it very much feels like the "this is fine" meme except the chair the table and even the cup are also on fire……..………… bear with me!!! 🥹
TL;DR
- I caught COVID about 2 weeks ago which put a pause on the channel
- I’m going on vacation in <2 weeks
- My current priority is
1) Making sure no ongoing series (Dragon Age 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake) will be further affected by breaks
2) Have stuff to tide over the remaining days I’m away for - C H A O S & P A N I C
Unexpected April Break
Earlier this month I joined the ‘rona club 😔 That was a Very Not So Good few days…. I don’t think I’ve ever been that sick as an adult before. I’m doing much better now although with a bit of a persisting cough (if I suddenly stop talking in videos for an extended time it’s probably an edited out cough lol).
This put a halt to the channel for a good 10 days. Things look like they’re back underway now, but as briefly mentioned before I’ll be away on vacation for 2 weeks in May (~6th-21st)!! To be frank with the unintended break I don't have things hammered out for how this period'll look yet :(
What Things Look Like Right Now
Resident Evil 4 Remake should wrap up over the next few days – as of today we’re currently on Chapter 14 of 16.
We're on the tail end of Dragon Age 2 as well, but I’m unsure how many more hours it is since I still have one more full DLC. I’m really hoping we can get to the end without another interruption, so getting the rest of this series prepped is my #1 priority.
Upcoming Stuff
My #2 priority is trying to make sure I have Some stuff for the rest of the days I'm away for. What's that going to to look like? I don't know yet........!
However I will be checking out a preview of Harmony: The Fall of Reverie (by DON’T NOD, creators of Life is Strange 1 and 2) sometime next week. That'll be exciting as it felt like DON'T NOD had been laying low for a while.
I'm still very much interested in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC. I can probably start it before I leave but I’m not sure if I’d want to do that and leave a blank period vs. starting & finishing it continuously when I return from my trip. Will keep thinking about this more!
Anyway I’m gonna be real, I don’t have much capacity to think that far ahead with how crazy things are atm LOL. Forgive me for the vagueness of everything! I will likely make an update video closer to May to let all viewers know I'll be away, so I'm hoping to have more details then. (This is a combined April/May update post since I don't think I'll have much more to say in May immediately after I come back.)

Generally I don’t post about unexpected/irregular happenings on Patreon since I think of it as a place for bigger updates & I didn’t want to make a 1 line “hey I’m sick lol” post and have that pushed out to everyone’s inboxes. But I don’t want anyone feeling left out of important info though- let me know if you have any concerns about this arrangement.

Insert "guy walks into room on fire" GIF here! I've been away dealing with #%$^ for a couple of weeks, so I'm way behind on the Welonzverse. First off, I'm so glad you're feeling better now. And second, I hope you have a super-wonderful vacation. You certainly deserve it! Storyteller was so much fun, plus Benedict Fox and The Invincible both look really cool. I'm so far behind on Dragon Age 2 and Resident Evil 4 though, it's kind of daunting. I may have to start watching some during my "down time" at work to catch up.

If you have a need for shorter, filler content in the near future, and if you can tolerate some jank (and we know you can), I've been having a hilarious good time with the recent Shadows of Doubt early access release. It's like a random procedurally generated immersive sim, Deus Ex meets Guess Who with voxels.

From a viewer pov, you don't have worry about the channel not having new vids for 10 days when you're sick or for the incoming vacation. With the consistent cadence you have at uploading, there's always some catching up to do, including full completed long series that will take more than 15 days to watch! Focus on enjoying your vacation, without worrying too much about the channel, and hope you have a good time :D Also a bit curious about where you're going, like the country or continent, but no worries if you'd rather keep it private either :)

If you're worried about lack of updates, space the ones you have a bit more apart? It's not like I'll unsubscribe when there are no new vids for a week 😁

Hoping once I'm back I can dig more into some indie stuff again!

Seriously, you just got through Covid and went right back to your regular schedule. You've earned some actual time off to relax and recover and whatnot so no matter what happens to the channel uploads while you're on break I'd say don't worry about it. Just get well and have a good vacay!

So I am almost a little sad that you are only saying that you are interested instead of "I am going to play it". But feel free to schedule it when you see fit. I think it wouldn't be a problem if you would release some part before the your break and a second part after. Maybe even better some kind of cliffhanger - it works for TV. But well I know nothing about how the YouTube algorithm gods would see it.

I'm kind of afraid that long series feel too monolithic, and if people are't interested in a given long game, they'll skip 100+ episodes rather than just 2 or 3. I suggested Endling: Extinction Is Forever on Discord. That one and Call of the Sea remain my main recommendations, followed by the two Far games (Far: Lone Sails, Far: Changing Tides). Highly emotional, narrative-driven games are my jam and what I crave to see you play!

The RE4R LP reminded me why I loved your RE2R and RE3R LP so much : Few content creator dive in this franchise story and lore, trying to make sense of it like you do.
