January 2019 Channel Update - A New Year

Hey all,

Happy belated New Year! I hope you all had a great December and an even better start to your 2019. Mine’s been pretty chill and relaxing with some time away from work. Except for the part where, you know, the holidays eventually finish and you gotta get back to the grind :|...

Anyway! I forwent an update last month since Obra Dinn/Wolfenstein were still cooking and there wasn’t much else, but with the coming of new year, both are ready and I can start looking beyond again.

TL;DR

• Finished since last update: Spider-Man Silver Lining DLC, GRIS, Obra Dinn
• Ongoing: Witcher 3, RDR2, Wolfenstein: TNO

Games Finished Since Last Update

By request, from this update onwards I’ll briefly give my spoiler-free thoughts on series I’ve finished since the last update. I probably make more videos than most of you have time for so I hope this will aid in finding games/videos that interest you the most.

1. Marvel's Spider-Man Silver Lining DLC (4 parts): The last of the Spider-Man DLC focusing on the Hammerhead threat. The base game was very good, and the DLCs have moments where they shine too but they’re also obviously on a smaller budget. Nothing mind-blowing but cool enough if you're into seeing more of Spider-Man.

2. GRIS (5 parts): A journey of a girl mentally dealing with a painful experience. Wordless 2D platformer in the same vein of atmosphere as Journey, ABZU, or RIME. Gorgeous watercolour aesthetics and amazing soundtrack, very nice to relax to. The story is ambiguous enough to theorize on too.

3. Return of the Obra Dinn (13 parts): A detective investigation game on discovering the identities and fates of a ship crew. I enjoyed playing it, but I don't know if I'd recommend watching my playthrough of it lol. I think it's the first time I've done a series on such a puzzle-centric game, and those can get pretty frustrating to watch when viewers spot or realize something that the player doesn't (understandable!) Unless you have the patience to watch an entire series of someone stumbling through a puzzle game, I'd probably recommend playing this yourself instead!

• Wolfenstein: The New Order (F I N A L L Y)

No surprises here! All three of these will no doubt run through the rest of January. 

Upcoming Stuff

The year's just begun so I don't think there's that many releases yet. For January, I'm keeping an eye on: 

• 15th: Vane
• 24th: Life is Strange 2 Episode 2

I suspect all of the above combined will be enough to keep me occupied for a good while.
