SHK CH 793

The next day, Sol found himself walking in the sky once again. The sun was rising in the sky, and in the distance, he could feel Nefertiti preaching once again. The power of faith reaching him was growing ever stronger.

Since coming out of his honeymoon with Medea, many pieces of good news have reached him. But he knew that not everything would be that easy. He had many important decisions to make.

Decisions that would affect the entire world.

The fight against Euphoria resulted in many deaths, and though they ultimately managed to beat her, she was nothing but an emotion goddess. Saying it like this sounded wrong, but this was the truth.

The emotions goddesses were ultimately weaker than the others when alone. From what he knew, the only true exception to this rule was Gula, the Goddess of Gluttony, but even then, there were limits to her power.

It was exactly because she was nothing but an emotion goddess that Sol was worried about the future.

If an emotion goddess were this powerful…How strong would the other be? Could he really match them all?

Yes. He could. This was neither hubris nor ignorance. Sol had the potential to surpass all gods and become even a Creator God or something beyond.

His only limit was time. Nothing else.

So there was never a doubt that he would surpass them all eventually. The only problem was that potential was just that. It was not actual tangible power.

Would the gods give him the time to grow?

Funnily, most likely yes.

For the simple reason that they did not know how much potential he had. Not even Hypnos.

They were unlikely to underestimate him, but they would not judge him at his true value either. Then, because of how time worked for being at their level, they might even waste ten years doing nothing.

Ten years for a god was not even enough for a nap. But ten years for Sol was more than enough to conquer everything.

This was why he did not film or broadcast the video of his fight against the goddess.

This was also why he did not use all his power against Euphoria.

Playing the pig to eat the tiger was a popular quote for a reason. Sol did not like playing the pig, but acting slightly weaker was definitely something he didn’t mind.

After all, looking at the face filled with the surprises of his enemies was always delightful. It was definitely quite the sick pastime, but oh so amusing.

At this moment, the ones the gods would be looking at and be wary of were undoubtedly Lilith, Ambrosia, Anubis, and Echidna.

Those four were his smokescreen.

There were only two variables to this. Two gods who knew exactly, or at least doubted, how much potential he had and how far he could go.

One of them was Dawn. The eldest sister of all gods. The Goddess of Day and now Night, and perhaps even Love as well now. She had been reincarnated into Aurora Highland and was once the Holy Daughter of Luxuria. Technically still was.

Back when he needed to fool the goddesses to heal Lilith, she had been an incredible, albeit unwilling, ally. Even as a Duke, she had been able to hide secrets from all fourteen goddesses without even the slightest difficulty.

Even for him, finding her was becoming harder, and he could only do so when he focused on the power he had placed inside her.

Once she regained her divine status, it was hard to say how powerful she would become.

As for the other god, he needed to keep an eye on?

“We will settle this soon,” Sol muttered under his breath, and his eyes flashed with a cold light. Then, after taking one step, He vanished entirely.

He would deal with that one soon enough. But for now, he needed to get up to date with what his crazy inventor was up to.

It was time to meet Theresa.

—-

Sol appeared outside Theresa's workshop without any fanfare. He had long since stopped caring about making grand entrances when visiting friends. He had been meaning to check on her progress anyway, but the sudden spike in her mana signature had drawn his attention like a beacon.

Walking through the familiar corridors of her underground laboratory, he found her exactly where he expected—hunched over her workstation, surrounded by blueprints and holographic displays that would make even Echidna jealous.

"...if we adjust the orbital trajectory by three degrees... no, that won't account for atmospheric refraction... maybe a dual-layer scrying array would..."

Theresa, Sol’s godmother, was many things. She was a dwarf, once a hero adventurer, the richest woman in the world, A genius inventor, the creator of the M.E.C.H.A, an armor that revolutionized warfare, certainly not a philanthropist, and quite possibly the most dangerous craftsperson alive.

She was also a King now, having achieved ascension through her unshakable belief that mortal wisdom could surpass even the gods. Small in stature but limitless in ambition, she had already changed the world once. Watching her mumble as if she had gone insane, Sol had a feeling she was about to do it again.

"Aunt Theresa," Sol called out with a smile. "Please tell me you've slept."

"Sleep is for people who don't have history to make," Theresa replied without looking up. Then she paused, blinked, and finally turned to face him. "Oh! Sol! You're here!"

Before he could respond, she had already hopped down from her stool and rushed over, practically bouncing with excitement.

"I've been working on the calculations all night. Do you know how complex orbital mechanics are? Of course you don't, why would you? But it's fascinating! We need to account for planetary rotation, atmospheric drag, mana interference patterns, and—"

"Theresa." Sol placed a hand on her shoulder, gently guiding her back toward her workstation. "Breathe. I came here to discuss the next steps, not to watch you collapse from exhaustion."

She waved dismissively. "I'm a King now, remember? I can go weeks without sleep if I need to."

"Just because you can doesn't mean you should."

"You sound like Hermes." But despite her words, she allowed him to lead her to a chair. Once seated, she immediately pulled up a holographic display showing what looked like a planetary model with dozens of small objects orbiting it.

“The information I have obtained thanks to the witches has been fascinating. I knew that our planet was round, but I had no way to fully verify it. Nor have the data needed to infer what I wished for.”

“Weren’t you going to make a plan for our new ship armada? Flying ship, remember?”

“Flying ships can wait! What I am about to do might be unprecedented.”

“Explain.” Sol was getting curious now.

“It was after the fiasco with the goddess. I have been thinking. What if we had a way to observe and control everything? A way to help the citizen or strike at our enemy with extreme accuracy. I plan to call this project <<Sky’s Eyes>>. It also suit your holy name and could reinforce you.”

She now had Sol’s full attention. He was starting to get an idea of what she wanted to do.

“Let me summarize, in short, you want to send some stuff outside the planet so that we can have an absolute monopoly on those domains in the future.”

“Yes.”

Sol’s lips twitched. Meeting Theresa was many things.

Boring was definitely not one of them.

Just imagining blasting people with a precise satellite made him salivate, and Theresa was right.

His name was the All-seeing, radiant lord.

What could be more suitable for him than striking people with a light ray from the sky?

(More chap soon.)

Comments

She will try a bunch of things. Light ray was just the first idea because inspiration from the angels
