Im not used to defending the show.... but I am 100% on board w/ killing Semly. He's got a lot of great backstory & lore, but GRRM does f*ck all w/ him after joining Dany. He just becomes yet another unnecessary POV addition that make AFFC/ADWD the overbloated messes that they are.
Anyway, its useless to even think too hard over it now... since the books are more or less an abandoned project.

ok my summary may be a bit harsh, but I didn't want to bore them with timelines nobody knows for sure. Selmy said he knew he was going to die before he got the scripts because of the filming schedules and asked for them to call him. I guess their decision to kill him was just incompetence first, then I think they said something like "that made us want to kill him even more" after Selmy argued with them. It's been a while since I looked at every detail.

im fully onboard the f*ck d&d train, but lets not get things wrong lol. He didn't talk back to them while on the show at all. Nor did they kill him off for that reason...
He wrote a letter to them AFTER he got the s5 scripts, where he tried to argue for why the character should live. And they just got annoyed by the letter.
Tbf, this show is a juggernaut of a machine, so it IS a bit presumptuous for anyone to think they are gonna rewrite and rework the entire production of a season just because you wrote the writers a letter... By the time actors get scripts, its too late for anything to change...That being said, it was not a good look for DnD to shade the actor on interviews.

I don't think it's a spoiler since Maple said Selmy looks dead in a pool of blood, but basically the actor for Selmy would critique or talk back to DnD, so they decided to kill off his character. It's kinda sad how fragile they are.

Its so cool seeing Tyrion interacting with Jorah Mormont after all this time!
