Behind the scenes
Added 2015-07-28 07:25:26 +0000 UTCGreetings Patrons!
It's been a while, but there are lots of things going on behind the scenes so, time for an update! :-)
- Sierra Chest and the official Sierra in contact for possible cross-promotion! Yes, you are reading it correctly. I'm directly in touch with the official Sierra and proposed a collaboration where Sierra would link from the official site and forums to the Sierra Chest and a few other dedicated Sierra fan sites with regard to the classic Sierra titles (from 1980 to 2008) since Activision doesn't support those releases. In return the Sierra Chest would then also link up to the official Sierra site and forums and promote their latest news and products. The first response to the proposal was positive and it is currently under review by Sierra's legal department. Many say it's a futile attempt to get such an agreement done, but I say "if you don't try it, you'll never find out", and we have 7 years of work on the site to back up our dedication.
- Sierra Chest 2: Sierra Chest 2 is being built on a Zend framework with the help of Britton Mathews, who also helped upgrading the original Sierra Chest over the past few years. Britton suggested we'd need GitHub to move forward and that's where a problem sneaked in: my computer was so old it still had Windows XP on it and probably couldn't handle anything with higher system requirements - Github requires at least Windows 7. What did Britton do? He simply shipped me a new computer! That's right, I now have a much better PC and can continue working on the upgrade (that also means I need to change to $1,000/month Patreon milestone btw). I'll soon provide you guys the design document of Sierra Chest 2, so you can see all the upcoming new features and new interface.
- Sierra Chest 2 teaser trailer: with the design of Sierra Chest 2 (finally) making nice progress now, I'm planning to launch a teaser trailer to wet the fans' appetites. This will involve a fully animated scene of the image of the Sierra Chest in the attic of the old house in the woods during a storm (drawn by artist Rodrigo Martin Campo) and a friend and professional film maker kindly agreed to design the teaser. This teaser would then be followed up a bit later with a full-blown trailer with Sierra Chest 2 release date, featuring several Sierra alums. Hopefully the teaser will be ready soon, but it's up to the designer's time schedule.
- Pepper's Adventures in Time: I also added lots of new content on the site, but it was mostly small stuff, such as more box art, more publications, some sound tracks and so on. The game page of Pepper's Adventures in Time (Sierra Discovery series) is nearly completed and is also the first game where the Sierra Chest Patrons are credited in the video walkthrough credits for their support. These credits are added to each new video now.
- Mark Seibert's JAG-B. Famous Sierra composer Mark Seibert contacted me about 2 months ago concerning a new album he's making with the band "JAG-B". Since he receives to this day many questions from the fans about his current activities, he asked the Sierra Chest to promote the new album, which of course we gladly did. Their album will be released this week, on August 1! You can already see a bunch of short clips on Mark's Kirkat Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_idx8rXjfXAFO_bu89-gjA
You can also expect him to make an announcement himself on the Sierra Chest's Facebook page one of the days.
Lots more things going on at the Sierra Chest, but these are the ones that currently came to mind. Expect a new update within the week and thank you again for all your support!
Rudy
PS: Today chapter 1 of the new King's Quest is being released! The first official King's Quest since Mask of Eternity (1998)! You guys ready for it? :-)
