The poster Tommy Jane is painting in the beginning is not a poster for The Thing but The Dark Tower, specifically The Gunslinger. There is a poster for The Thing in the scene but he’s not painting that one in the scene.

Remains my favorite monster movie--I've heard gripes about the CGI here and there but the monsters have always looked great to me. The spiders being the most fucked up.
