Love MM and Isaac Brock. Every album leading up to Float On (Good News album) are masterpieces. Good News is my least favorite of theirs but the opening three songs are a hell of a one two three punch. Every album since all have a few great tracks on them, but they became inconsistent as a whole. The last album was pretty good.

Can’t wait for the director comparison episode. Sounds great.

Lovin Pat’s Music Corner and takes. I love those dad rock bands, and Issac Brock is a crazy genius, but Float On is when I tuned out of Modest Mouse as well. Saw Cat Power 20 years ago and it was the same spotty performance then too. Pixies are good live, but Wilco sounds incredible.

Freaks and Geeks is one of my all time favorites. Funny, touching, compassionate. I get way too sappy whenever it’s brought up! 😂 What if you and Joe did an episode by episode watch along for it? It’d be a huge treat. The show rules and rules hard (same with Undeclared!)

I love Modest Mouse man. This is a Long Drive…, The Lonesome Crowded West (their best album), The Moon and Antarctica and Building Something out of Nothing are stone cold masterpieces.

Joe is a contrarian. That’s all it is. If the salmon stream swims north, he’s goin south. He’s also married to traditional mob motifs which involves everything mid 20th Century. Sopranos was a modern situation which I remember felt strange when it premiered. I was so used to 40s/50s/60s set design, music, same familiar actors, etc.

Great Pod , funny , entertaining , and informative. Wasn't Joe about to release a solo podcast of his own along the lines of his old one , "Down With joe DeRosa" ? Pat just showed how it's done.

Love how often Pat references The Sopranos. Truly the greatest show of all time. Hoping that one day Joe will give it another shot but that doesn’t seem likely.

I always think “I’d make a great movie reviewer” Then I hear Pat’s SMC and how he amazingly weaves the reviews into stories of everyday life and lessons we can all understand and learn from. (Ice in pants on a date = no bueno) The wide variety of movies that he watches and how good he is at discussing so many details is fantastic, so I write down some notes on my “what to watch list” and I go back to being just a grateful listener and excellent Pilates instructor. Thanks Pat. The movie 🌽 rules.

I never knew this Pee Wees Big Adventure fact til recently, but there's a deleted scene that explains the "Amazing Larry" shout out a little better, but the guy who played Amazing Larry also played "The Assman" proctologist on Seinfeld..Million to one shot..

Interesting podcast episode about a book charting the development of alternative music in Athens GA, with specific focus on The B52’s https://newbooksnetwork.com/grace-elizabeth-hale-cool-town-how-athens-georgia-launched-alternative-music-and-changed-american-culture-unc-press-2020
