July Episode Two - Nightmare on Elm St: The Entire Franchise

Have your dreams come true? Possibly...if your dream was to hear the boys review every damn aspect of the Elm Street franchise. And we mean all of it! Parts one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, F vs J, the remake, and even that stinking TV series! Oof, maybe this is more of a nightmare! Enjoy!

We are listening to your podcast, I am the girlfriend obsessed with the series (not the subscriber, aka my bf). Your criticism of 5 and 6 seem to indicate your reluctance toward themes of maternity, birth, female physical transformation (the monster spectrum) and children. Perhaps you are allergic to shifting perspectives. Freddy’s Dead, arguably, holds the strongest female characters of the entire series. And now I am listening to you criticize a female director for “going wild” or experimenting as Cronenberg or Lynch might. The power of film and collaboration is opening your mind to other perspectives within the nightmare. Also, when you stutter through foggy and inaccurate recollections of details in 5 and 6, I tend to think you weren’t paying close enough attention to offer concise analysis. Sidebar: Abuse is a powerful theme within the horror genre.

Their franchise retrospectives are always awesome! Their Pet Semetery episode is the best!
