Yeah, sadly I can't disagree with you Brandon. Once it gets out into the zeitgeist that's it. It's similar, (but less egregious IMO), to people referring to Game Boy Donkey Kong as "Donkey Kong '94". That one is like nails on a chalkboard to me. lol

2022-05-24 14:22:50 +0000 UTC(brandon:) "double jump" has definitely taken over the aerial jump terminology and they are now basically the same - the idea of double jump being a ground second jump on the ground that gets you higher only lasted for about two years, the mechanic fell into disuse, and aerial jump has been referred to as "double jump" probably about 200x more frequently in game manuals and in-game tutorials and text vs the ground-based meaning, so I thiiiiiiiiiiiiink that's a losing battle.

2022-05-23 17:40:05 +0000 UTCre: "Double Jump" - Time for me to be annoyingly pedantic! Double Jump =/= Aerial Jump Some examples: Mario 64 - Double (and Triple) Jump, where subsequent jumps get you higher. Mega Man & Bass - (Bass) Aerial Jump, performed when in midair. Mega Man X - Dash, only on ground. Sonic 3 - (Fire Shield) Air Dash, only works when in the air. Zelda OOT: Hover (Boots), when you walk or run off an edge. Mega Man X4: (Leg Upgrade) Aerial Hover, only when in the air. The real question: Should these aerial abilities be allowed anytime the player is midair (ex. falling) or only after jumping?
