Catching up on Record Club this week, this was one the best episodes yet. Your conversations made me smile and reflect. Almost cathartic.

Record Club is always a fun listen, but this episode is top tier! Loved hearing all the album/song insights, as well as all the personal bits between the two of you.

This is one of my favorite episodes you guys have done. Jennie’s insight was so interesting and made me think a lot deeper about the songs. Really good album too. 3.5/5 for me

Can I make suggestions for albums here? Exuma, the obeah man from 1969 is such a beautiful album

I don't listen to most Record Club albums, and I don't know how much I'd personally react to this album directly, but the way that it was able to dig into both you and Jennie conversationally was so great. I'm ultimately just a fan, but I've always had issues with anxiety, and seeing you guys comfortable enough to discuss such personal topics with the Patreon has to mean this album is impactful, and raises it above what I probably would have given it in on my own. Hell, I've never even heard of Lauryn Hill before, but it was beautiful hearing you two opening up a bit to the way that she presents this album.

excited to hear your thoughts on paid in full next week!

My first exposure to this album was my deeply uncool 6th grade English teacher reciting lyrics during a poetry lesson and she said ‘trust me, it sounds better when she says it!’ As a result I always avoided listening! Now that I have, I can see why it was such a sensation. I think neo soul was kind of a thing already but Miseducation definitely made a big mark on it and department stores for the next 20 years are all the better for it. This might sound dumb but I was struck by the vocabulary, Lauryn Hill used a lot of words uncommon in popular music, which kept my ears interested. (Or at least in a lot of what I listen to!) Good stuff and great ep, liked how introspective y’all got.

Streets are asking for Derrick on next week's episode.
