It's finally ready for you guys. Tomorrow, I'll be putting up a poll for everyone to voice their opinions about what content they would prefer to see added into the game in the next version. This one adds the camping mechanic, a lot of titles that go along with combat and camping, a new quest system at the Adventure Guild (quests are added to the available list based on your level with the guild, and starting at level four it gets very difficult). There are still some very obvious deficiencies in the combat system, but I'll be adding mechanics into that individually going forward.
Changelog:
- Camping feature has been added. High level quests now require between two and 15 days to complete. New interactions and renders for Lani activate when she is camping with you in your party.
- Checkpoints have been added in case of accidental death.
- Health Potions have been added in three flavors (at the guild shop).
- 6 new enemies up to level 10
- 5 new enemy skills
- 6 new titles (based on character level achieved at death, party level achieved at death, health potions used, days spent camping, number of total enemies killed (over multiple lives)).
- Removed skip to day 5 and stat saving features (to be replaced with a better system in next version).
- Corrected duplicate item bug in Soul Box (items now duplicate properly).
- Quests in the adventure guild now populate based on guild level (up to level 5).
- Guild and Temple levels now have no upper limit (though rewards stop at level 4 in the temple).
- Many more drop items for players to use to earn money (but not much to buy yet).
- Combat has been sped up.
- Probably other things that I can't remember.
Known Issues:
Users with save files from previous versions may find an error code when saving a non-equipment item in their Soul Box at rebirth. This is an error that has appeared once in testing, but couldn't be recreated.
Other notes:
For months, I've been struggling with save compatibility related to changes that I make in the battle system from version to version (the errors that come up for some old save files when you start or end a battle for example). I believe I've finally discovered the root cause of these errors, and that has been corrected in this version of Rewind. At least, I've discovered no game-breaking problems related to errors in the battle code as I've gone through saves from old Android and PC versions (hopefully Mac is also fine). If these errors are truly a thing of the past, then my development time working on actually fun portions of the game will drastically increase.
