Dev Diary #2 (0.03a) 🗿

Hey Hey Hey!

It's been a while since the last dev diary, so I figured I might come in and say how the update is going.

First things first, the release for the next version might take a while longer than I was expecting, so I can't give an exact date for when it will be coming out. Like I said before on the last dev diary, I was working mostly on the game code to decide how the event logic and game loop will play out, I think I'm mostly done with that. All that's left is a little polishing so that no weird stuff happens.

As for the events themselves, I have the outline for which events I'll be doing for this update, and have already started (and finished) a couple of them.

However, the reason this is a dev diary and not a sneak peek is that I want to finish more of them before I can show how the progress is going. I'll try to get some things ready to make a sneak peek soon, so you can actually see and get an idea of what are some of the things to come.

Currently, my plans for what there'll be in this next update are:

• Camera Screens. Will be the main way of navigating through the Academy Events. And you'll be able to choose which events you want to see next.
• Main Events. These are automatic events, which means they'll trigger if some conditions are met. Don't worry, I won't lock these conditions behind some weird pre-requisites. They'll mostly be 'time based' meaning they will happen after some days have passed. Since they are going to be major events, I think it's best if they're automatic and not tied to the Camera Screens.
• Repeatable Events. These are small random events that are going to be happening at some moments, mostly at the start or end of a day. Sometimes you'll be able to decide on their outcomes, which will affect the Academy stats.
• Weekly Exams. The Exams are going to be happening at the last day of the week, and will be a way to influence the grades of the students. Obviously this will be a major mechanic of the game, so there will be a heavy focus on this event. Although it will be held weekly, there will be many variations to it, and many of the decisions you take during or after it will influence other events.
• Weekends (Maybe). With the Weekly exams being held on the last day of the week, this next update will obviously span for a few days, which might take us to the weekend. I have a plan to make the weekends another "Mini-Event" picker, where you'll be able to choose with whom you'll want to hang out. So there will be some more extra events to happen outside the Academy. The reason this is a 'Maybe' is because I don't want to 'overpromise' things for this next update, but this is something I definitely want to have in the game at some point.

Anyway. I think this is all for now. I'll try to speed things up a little so as to have some sneak peeks or more detailed diaries in the following days.

In the meantime, I decided to try and make some renders with a little bit more effort than normal. To practice mostly, but I liked how they came out, so I decided to show them. Unfortunately these renders are not going to be in-game. (Yet? Unless there's a beach episode with Haruka…?)
