Simple Ukulele Fingerpicking Pattern with Amazing Sounding Chords

Hi Tommy. The arrows show you the strumming movement (up or down). I am sure you also notice the curved line connecting the notes' head of some of the chords (music stave only not tab). When you see these lines (called tie), the first chord is visible in the tab below, but not the second chord connected to the ties. The tie joins the rhythmic values of two notes so that they are played as if they were one note. That's why you don't see the tied chord in the tab. You are not supposed to play it. In measure 17, we strum a chord, which is then tied to the next one in bar 18. So, the parenthesis is just a reminder that you are not supposed to play that chord because it is tied. Instead, you should just let it ring out. I hope this helps.

So many people have an enthusiastic start when trying to learn the ukulele, but soon give up because it is more difficult than they thought it was going to be.
