I like Susan.

I really do. She (the gal in the images) is the brainchild of a Netherlands-based deviantart-ist Auctus177 (standard disclaimer: the above images are not my work; I don't claim credit for them; illustrative purposes only; I'll take them down if requested; links at the bottom, etc., etc., etc.).

ANYWAY. One of you turned me on to her fairly recently, and I appreciate it. I certainly don't mind it when y'all send me "Hey, this reminded me of you, check this link" messages, but it's especially nice when it's not some standard-issue porn star (nothing against the standard-issue porn stars of the world, y'all keep it up, because humanity needs you). Even better when it's something that seems so... familiar.

In this case, Susan is... sweet. A normal girl, with parents, friends, a significant other. She has moments of levity in her life, moments of discomfort, moments of fear. Times when she feels on top of the world; times when she's just down in the dumps. Moments of exultation; instances of depression. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. In short, she is a woman who is so like your hero, that we find the need to refer to her in the superlative degree of comparison (except for the significant other, but oh well.) Oh, and she has a haircut I've been thinking of getting, but I can't really do straight, so we'll see.

I'm still working my way through his stuff, but personally, I think it's a lot of fun. There's a cast of characters, each with their own... attributes ( ;-P ), personalities, motivations. And boy, has Auctus taken his time in fleshing them out. World building, I think they call it in the industry.

As a lot of you know, I enjoy science fiction. And I think good sci-fi tends to operate under a basic principle: take a familiar world; change one very important thing about it; figure out a theme or themese you'd like to address; add characters; stir until mixed. If this is done well, the result is that we can take a subject that's difficult, uncomfortable, taboo, whatever, and explore it more closely. Battlestar Galactica did that well. We don't like to think about hot-button topics like torture, war, abortion, etc., but because those elements are being explored on a spaceship, we don't feel as if it affects our lives as heavily, and we're able to explore it more than we would have otherwise. That's a valuable thing in literature.

The element that's changed in Susan's world (and in the world Auctus has created) is that everyone and everything is that most of its females seem to come standard with preternaturally large figures (not all or even most, but enough so it's not terribly uncommon). Some women have exceptional chests; some have rear ends that would easily get stuck in a standard doorway; pregnancies that make the "Octomom" look first-trimester; that kind of thing. Then... he lets them live their lives. Sure, they get into wacky situations sometimes, but my favorites are the excerpts in when they're just doing normal, hum-drum things that would be utterly boring if they weren't being acted out but someone with breasts, well, my size.

Are people surprised by Susan? Sure! But everyone pretty much already knows at least one gal like her. In Susan's universe, her breasts make her... I dunno. About as common as a woman over 6 feet-2 inches tall? A chick who does iron-working as a hobby? A woman who got pregnant with triplets? Not shocking, but we all know one.

In that regard, they act as a bit of catharsis for your's truly. It's not very often I get to meet someone with macromastia (Note: Though I did recently! Next post!), so even though this is fiction, and the actors at computer-generated, it feels comfortable, and makes me feel more... normal. As the person who shared Susan with me asked, "Shit, was she modeled after you?!" No, she wasn't. But I admit that the resemblance IS a little baffling. Though she still has a couple of cup sizes on me. I think.

I also get to fantasising, too (though not in the way you might hope, horndog reader :-P ). But Susan and her contemporaries have access to things like 1) bras they can buy at a normal store, 2) cars with steering wheels that don't smush, 3) access to medical professionals who are knowledgeable on this kinda thing, 4) friends in similar states with whom they can talk and share notes, 5) shit, magazines they can subscribe to with lifestyle tips for the exceptionally well-endowed. One of his recent pieces on his DA (as of this writing) features one character with her breasts in a sling suspended from the ceiling (not gonna lie — it sounds ridiculous, but I would probably buy that at Target if it was available). There are certainly times where, if a Rick and Morty-style portal opened, I might just jump through. If anything, just for a shopping trip.

So yeah. I like Susan. She's cool. She exists only on the internet and in the mind of her creator, but if she were real, I have a feeling she and I would be friends.

And I have a feeling that if you like this page, you'd probably like Auctus' stuff, too. He's on DA at deviantart.com/auctus177 and he has a patreon on here at patreon.com/auctus177.

I like Susan.

Solid fella! I like his storytelling. :)

Another one worth looking into perhaps is 2he's Thought Bubble series. It just ended, and is a lot more fantastical, but at it's core it's about living with something that is awkward, and trying to just be yourself.

I read this too. I should have recommended it to you, but I wasn't sure if it was a little too fantastical.

Glad to see Auctus is still creating! I used to follow when they were first creating. Happy you found them!
