Most of these "Bardock and his family survive" stories blast past the Dragon Ball content to get to Z, so I'm really enjoying the slower pace of this version.

i really like the use of drunken master for bardock, its already one of my favorites, and pretty unique for dragon ball. im def curious to see if you give any others of the family unique styles as well. giving one of the sons, or even Gine, Kyokushin to contrast Bardock as a full contact martial art instead of an evasive one would be very interesting.
