Tortles. I bring to you the Coins of Benevolent Will. I purchased a bunch of metal coins IRL that I keep in a pouch, not telling my players anything about them. The first time one of them did something cool, I told them that they looked down and say a glimmer of metal and that they could pick it up and hold onto it IRL. They were told that the coins were a sort of “Inspiration point” that they could spend to reroll one die (roleplayed as simply their pocket felt slightly lighter). The party loved them, and were spending as fast as they got them. Whenever they asked an NPC about the coins, no one else had ever seen anything like this. However, during an encounter with a dragon in human form the dragon was instantly drawn to the coins and said that there was a strange draconic magic at work, and that perhaps something greater could be unlocked if enough coins were collected. The party immediately stopped spending their coins but nothing happened. After a bad draw from the Deck of Many Things, the wizard was cursed with literal bark skin and then caught fire, over double the max HP and the wizard died. I had purposefully been narrating the scene every time they finished a long rest with some sort of semi memorable description such as “you awaken to the smell of coffee and see a bluebird land on your pack”, and this time the wizard player was told that as everything went black, he had a choice. Yes or no. He said yes, and his pocket got lighter by five coins, as he opened his eyes to find himself smelling coffee and seeing a blue bird land on his pack. He got to fast forward through the day until the fight, and was able to avoid being burned this time. They were thrilled and tried hard to always keep at least five coins on them at all times. One player though collected 12, and as the dozenth coin hit his pouch he had a choice of yes or no. He chose yes and his pouch emptied and instead he felt a Scroll of Wish in his hands. Tortles, they lost their shit. And you can too! For the low low low low cost of three eggs (or 2 if unfertilized) you can have five coins of your own! I should warn you, though I have not yet warned my players, that the coins are actually the creation of the BBEG, a chronomancer who is making sure that the party stays alive and intact for his own purposes, and the coins will do nothing against him. But don’t let a little cursed blessing get in the way here!

I’m a huge fan of Soulslike games but I’m not very good at them, so my favourite way to play is to find the biggest weapon I can, and stance break the enemy with heavy attacks so I can get a critical hit. This has inspired my idea for a homebrew subclass: The Back Breaker Barbarian. Starting at 3rd level, Once per rage if you hit a target with all your attacks on your turn, that target will have to make a strength saving throw equal to half the amount of damage you dealt on your attacks or be knocked prone. You can then use your reaction to make another attack and if that hits, it is an auto crit. Until the start of your next turn, any ally that makes a melee attack against the same target has advantage on their attacks. Starting at 6th level, any ally within 30 feet of you when you land your auto crit reaction will have their morale boosted by seeing you deal such a devastating blow that they gain temporary hit points equal to your strength score plus your proficiency bonus. That’s all I have so far lol.

Hello Tortles, today I have an incredible home brew magic item for you today: The Magic Castor. That's castor with an "o". This wheel may look small, but it contains mighty magic. Simply affix it to any large/heavy object and you will be able to move said object with ease, regardless of terrain. This wheel is even able to access non-euclidian dimensions so as to allow you to roll the object up or down stairs effortlessly. I'm offering and even 50% ownership in exchange for 1 of your finest eggs (I'm not a greedy man, but I do appreciate quality)

I homebrewed flustered and horny mechanics for fun for my players who are all my best friends of like 3-10+ years. Wis/Cha saving throw w DC set by how attractive the NPC is. 1 failure means they’re flustered w some mechanically disadvantages and then they may have to roll again depending on how badly they failed if the NPC is still around (like if they joint the party temporarily or are speaking w PC for x amount of time). If they fail twice against the same hot NPC they are HORNY which is like flustered condition but for longer. May not be original but I got a hella of a kick. Love the show. Emily do you wanna go on a date? Don’t tell Murph

(S)hark, Tortles! I present a minor change to the “recharge 5/6” rule that you see for abilities like a dragon’s breath weapon. How many times have you, while DMing, used the big terrifying breath weapon on the dragon’s first turn, only to never roll a 5 or 6 to recharge it for the rest of the encounter? It used to happen to me all the time, until I adopted this minor tweak: after the recharge ability is used, the DC to recharge it decreases by 1 after every round. This (in theory) makes it much more likely that your monster will be able to use its signature ability throughout the fight, while still allowing for the fun of rolling for it. Since this is a minor change, I ask only for your smallest egg in return.
