Over two years I began doing a semi-regular show on my youtube channel entitled "A Marxist History of WW2".  My aim in doing so was to present a view of the war in which the major myths that most of us in the west grew up on were taken apart and the reality of that war as an imperialist conflict was more thoroughly explored and explained.

I'll be putting out a version of this for patrons over the course of the August and September at a rate of one show per week.  When this comes to a conclusion it will be replaced (after a short break) with another series on the history of either the Yugoslav or Chinese revolutions.  So if you haven't voted on the poll regarding which one of those should come first then be sure to do so!

This series will begin in the 2nd week of August with an episode on historical representations of World War 2 and how the mythology surrounding it has been created and recreated to fit current circumstances and the needs of bourgeois ideology.

The episode titles will be as follows:

Episode 1 - WW2 Mythologies and their Uses

Episode 2 - October Defines Us - The Bolshevik Revolution and it's Effects

Episode 3 - The Sun Never Sets - Britain After WW1

Episode 4 - Waiting for Bonaparte - French Imperial Decline

Episode 5 - What Is Nazism? - The Origins of Fascist and Nazi Thought

Episode 6 - What Starts A War? - Understanding the Beginning of WW2

Episode 7 - A Colossal Wreck - Why France Fell

Episode 8 - Barbarossa and the Reality of the Eastern War

Episode 9 - The Holocaust as Capitalist Horror

Episode 10 - The Island Nation - Was Britain Standing Alone?

Episode 11 - The USA Triumphs - US Capitalism Triumphs

Episode 12 - The Planned Economy and It's Successes

Episode 13 - The Destruction of the Wermacht

Episode 14 - The Aftermath and Chances of Revolution

Episode 15 - Subscribers Comments and Questions

I'll be publishing the reading list for the first episode later this week.

Really looking forward to this...a reading list would be a great help too.

Mandels book is what inspired me to do this in the first place. It's a great piece of Marxist historical analysis. I'll be publishing a suggested reading list before I post the first episode up.

This looks fantastic. Is there any recommendation for reading on WW2 that isn’t bourgeois crap? I recently got Ernest Mandels ‘The meaning of the Second World War’. Hope it’s good!
