The platform game Limbo by Playdead comes to mind. Anyway, I think if this style was used exclusively in an AVN, it could quickly lose much of its charm. Like many good things, it should be used rather sparingly, otherwise what was once good can just become ordinary.

Facial expressions are very important, especially the subtle changes and shifts as a conversation progresses. If the subject isn't lit well enough, those could be easily missed. I could see it working for a very stylized 2D game though.

I can't quite figure out what this technique is called because it seems like part contre-jour, part chiaroscuro, but I do know that I like it. Definitely something to be used sparingly, but it is striking when used.

They have a simple aesthetic that can give an image an intensity that I really like, and somehow I often find myself drawn into them. Yes, I like this shot very much.
