Thanks for the details of just how complicated it was to deter the attacks, as well as the effectiveness of different measures and how the different defenses worked as a whole. Like modern anti-missile measures, I'm amazed at how much ordnance can be thrown into the air before you actually hit the target! I can't imagine what it was like for those gunners on the ships.

Oh, nope! It was from the other direction, why the Japanese used kamikazes. This one is how effective they were in total and how the US ships defended against them.
