Early Access: Battle of Midway analysis [trailer]

Hey all,

As I am gearing up for a big video on the Battle of Midway, Justin and I sat down to talk about the upcoming Battle of Midway movie and we had a closer look at the trailer. The episode will drop tomorrow. While I am well aware of Roland Emmerich's track record and some aspects in the trailer look suspicious, there are also some things that actually look surprisingly accurate.

Remember that currently two more Early Access videos are already out for your viewing pleasure:

Inside The Cockpit - Fiat G.91R

Combined Arms in Palestine 1917-18 - Interview with James Halstead (M.A.)

Also a tour of the Air Force Museum in Berlin is available.

Let me know what you think

Comments

Yeah, definitely suspect this too. I run into the same issues when making my visuals and often also need to tighten formations in order to provide a less 'isolated' visual that looks empty

Military Aviation History

Just a note on the comments regarding planes and ships being too close together in the film. You see this in every war movie, and I believe it's due to the limitations of a useful camera shot. The real distances involved in air and sea combat preclude giving the audience a useful view of the ships involved. For example, if the Japanese fighters and bombers were at shown at realistic attack heights , the audience would see only plane-shaped silhouettes rather than actual scary-looking attackers, and the visual impact of the scene would be lost. Just an observation, not a criticism of your review, which was excellent. Thanks guys!
