Update: June 18th, 2018

What do it, my fellows?!

...

I already fucked this up, didn't I?

Testicles.

Am I doing it? Am I updating?

Goddamn it, I don't know why this is so hard! I help write the updates! It shouldn't be that hard to write one myself! Carrie could easily help me! She's sitting right there! But noooooooooooooooooooo! I have to write this all by myself so I can thank all of you for helping me and because Carrie's a bitch! What a bitch, am I right?! #WhatABitch

So anywho, as many of you already know, my hard drive decided that it didn't want SAOA 13 to come out and proceeded to shit itself to death. Doctors are still trying to find the cause of death, but their initial examination has revealed that they are in fact people doctors and are not qualified to help in matters such as these. I tried to tell them that they were being very bigotted in not recognizing the humanity of a 4TB hard drive, but I was very rudely asked to leave and if I would like a ride home. Fascists. Well, no matter. They're the ones on the wrong side of history. The marches start tomorrow.

I did finally take it to someone who could possibly help recover the data, AND WHO NOT ONCE SAID THAT HARD DRIVES SHOULDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE, who quoted me $800-$1600 CAD to attempt to recover the episode data, depending on how fast I needed it done. That was not fun to hear, but thanks to you ridiculous motherfuckers, and your seeming inability to not give us money, we collected enough to get it done in about 4 business days for $1200, assuming all goes well and they're able to recover the data. Seriously, you guys are the best. I would have had to restart from a months-old back-up if it wasn't for your insane generosity. So I just wanna say thank you again from the bottom of my cold, dessicated husk of a heart.

Thank you.

That's it. There'll be no more of those, so savour it. Suck on it slowly, like a smooth, tastey, Werther's Original. This isn't sponsored or anything, by the way. I just really love butterscotch and am now realizing that I'm a 90-year-old lady.

Welp, I guess that'll be all from your good ol' Grandma Izzy. Eh, why not lean into this and leave you boyos with a piece of old timey wisdom.

When you'e caught in a Devil's Three-Way, never make eye-contact. Or butt contact. Or any kind of contact. Except first contact. Aliens are fuckin' sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Bye,
Izzy

Thx for the update Grandma Izzy!

Well I'm super happy that you potentially could recover all your work still, albeit with a one week wait time.

RAID is not a backup. It protects from disk failure, but none of the other things that destroy data (corruption, ransomware, fire, theft, user error). They need a real backup solution.

Every system will fail at some point in time and it will be the most unfortunate time imaginable. That's why i backup daily on my Synology NAS.

Or you could setup a cheap raid 1. doubles the cost of the drive, but gives you piece of mind without a monthly fee

As an IT professional... Crashplan. Get the business plan, it's $10/mon, and BAM CLOUD BACKUPS! Plus you can back up to other locations and junk, but that's not as much fun.

Please, please learn from this experience and start backing up your data! There are even systems (like frame.io) out there specifically designed for backing up and versioning and sharing Premiere projects. If nothing else, throw the project folder in a OneDrive/DropBox/Box.net folder so you survive a hard drive crash. I don't know if my heart can take more of these data loss scares.
