A physically imposing race of female warriors, the Kimon are the muscle of the Federation. Descended from a warrior culture, these brutal and disciplined amazons believe that combat or at least struggle is the ideal way of life. Lovers of stress and physical exertion, the Kimon are the unspoken backbone of the Federation’s military forces.
Kimon are from a hostile desert world far outside of the federations borders. From the few science teams sent and the records of the Kimon people, it is known that this world more than qualifies for the definition of deathworld. Most of the planets flora and fauna are hardy, used to constant physical attacks from predators and the vicious sandstorms that rack the planet. As a result of the hazardous conditions, most life on this unnamed planet reproduces via parthenogenesis, needing no partner in the production of young. The Kimon exemplify all of these characteristics, their strength and ability to restart their families from a single specimen have allowed them to survive this hostile world. The fact that any source of food or resources likely fought back resulted in the early Kimon solving any problem with violence. This is reinforced with their super dense muscle fibers, carbo-silicate bones, and endorphin fueled bloodrages. This has been incorporated by evolution to equate with success, ensuring pregnancy with expressions of great physical violence.
The early Kimon clans arose around great warrior matrons, eking out a brutal life on their homeworld, often taking what they could from other clans in brutal warfare. Fortunately, the particulate sand that coated their homeworld was rich in metal, allowing easy forging. In their quest to acquire more and better weapons, the Kimon were able to develop spaceflight and leave their desolate homeworld behind. The Kimon had little desire to colonize or settle, instead forming clanbased roving fleets, either taking what they desired. After multiple retaliatory wars, the Kimon transitioned to mercenary armies, selling their legendary fighting skills to the highest bidder.
The central tenet of all Kimon culture is struggle which is often violent. All activities relate back to physical domination and competitive nature. While most Kimon take this to the logical solution of military service, many others chose alternative options most popularly in bringing Brutal Ball and Professional Wrestling to the forefront of Federation Culture. Other tasks reliant upon physical strength or keen instincts, such as manual labor A little know facet of Kimon culture is their culinary skills. A Kimon Pastry Chef, Wizina, is famous for her book, "50 Cakes That Ain’t No Cakewalk". Of the recipes, 29 of the cakes are available for use as improvised bashing, blinding, or scorching weapons. And a further 4 are banned under Federal Law.
Originally hired by the Federation to hunt various pirate groups plaguing their borders (or were those pirates), the Kimon were the go to mercenary force of their time. After countless campaigns, the Federation began to offer the various mercenary clans Federation membership, along with the military positions and even their own region with high autonomy. With these benefits in hand, most of the Kimon joined the Federation and still make up a large section of the military. In the culture arenas, the Kimon brought their love of violent sport and violent acting which became a commercial success in the Federation with Brutal Ball being the official federal sport.
